I personally think that it is more than just the springs and foam that make the difference.  I, too, have had the mulitple bed syndrome, and spent more than you have overall, if I were to tally it up.  Hotel mattresses can be wonderful.  I posted this before, but I had been sleeping on a newer mattress(husband picked this one out) by a smaller mattress company with good reputation in So. Cal, which had pocket coils, and had already been re-foamed by another bed maker(per me).  Still had back pain.  Chronic.   Caused me to barely be able to move in the am, low back siezed up pretty much all the time.  Went out of town to the Brown's Hotel and Spa in Denver and wow what a mattress!  First night back 70% improved, next night back 100% healed, and last night pure heaven.  I wanted to take the darn thing...

First off, I am new to this forum.  A huge thanks to everyone that contributes here, as most of the information is very informative.  Here's my story:

Had a cheap (no name) mattress given to me about 5 - 6 years ago.  It is labeled as a firm cushion top.  Decided to upgrad to a king size bed, so I bought a Denver Mattress (the name/model slips my mind) for around $800.  It was only 1 - 2 weeks old before it starting sagging in the middle and I was waking up in the middle of the night with numb hands/arms.  Needless to say, I returned it.

Second mattress:  took the advice of many and went the Costco route.  Chose the Sealy Posturepedic...

Last year around June, we bought a couple of adjustable beds from Denver Mattress Co., with partial memory foam mattresses, because we needed relief from pressure points when we sleep on our sides. I HAVE to sleep on my sides and at age 62, have been having problems for years now, where the arm on top becomes numb and I have to turn over, and then again.... Must be a pressure point problem?

I'm not complaining about the store. The only real problem was that, just lying on them in the store, doesnt tell you if they actually can solve the problem for you. They helped some but didn't solve the problem. Yet we spent about $3500 for two adjustable beds and mattresses, that we're still paying off. ( just transferred it to a lower...

I am a bodybuilder and weigh 275 at 5'10" and have an issue with mattresses looking like tacos after having them for only a few years.  My current mattress I bought at Denver Matress about 7 years ago and have done the flip/rotation thing as they directed and it's taco'd out already.  Can anyone recommend a good mattress that will give good support as the taco'd bed thing has wreaked havoc on my lower back and won't break down/taco due to my bodyweight?  I had considered a memory foam mattress but I've read several reviews that those break down over time as well.  Thanks everyone!

Thanks to all for your helpful responses. I went to The Natural Sleep Store in Denver the other day and was introduced to their own latex mattresses with organic cotton and wool. Their new line is Bella Sera, and it sounds equivalent to Savvy Rest--96% pure latex in three or four layers, covered with organic wool in an organic cotton casing with a zipper. It is cheaper than Savvy Rest. I guess the downside is that it is new and therefore doesn't have a track record. Here's a link: http://bellaseraorganicmattress.com/

I also tried the GreenSleep mattress at the store, and it was extremely comfortable. I like the idea of the dowel-on-polymer foundation. It is a very expensive mattress, though, and I don't know if it is worth the extra cost. Apparently it has silk as well as wool and cotton in the layers over the latex, and this helps...

Here are a few that are worth looking at besides what you may already know.

http://www.originalmattress.com/classic/overview

They have a 9" and 12" all latex mattress. They also make their own mattresses and are quite highly rated. Call them to find out the location nearest to where you are and it's definately worth going to see them.

I don't think there are any of these close to you but if there is, then it would be worth going to lay on the different models of Pure Latex Bliss that they carry. They are really nice.

The two mattresses that you would be interested in here are the aspen and the snowmass. They only come in twin XL however so if a few inches of extra length is an...

Since these are both mentioned here http://www.furnituretoday.com/blog/Bedding_Today/22556-Consumer_Reports_ratings_shake_things_up.php

And are rated quite highly, it is worth including them as a reference point to help you compare what you are looking at to other similar (or better) mattresses. They both have specs and prices on their site so it will be easier to compare apples to apples.

In my opinion they both have models with great value. Unfortunately the "original mattress company" only ships in the East. That and the fact that they had already been mentioned a fair bit before was the only reason I didn't include them on my previous list.

Well, that's certainly discouraging!

I've stayed away from all the pillowtops and eurotops, am I really looking at things that are that soft?  There was a mattress there with 3" of latex on the top, a step up from the Spectra, and it felt too soft to me.

I was a little off on the specs of the Spectra - http://www.bowlesmattress.com/html/latex-foam.html and it was the Mystique next to it.  I now understand that neither are very desirable.. at least I think I do.

What I "need" to be looking for is something with just springs and latex?  It shouldn't mention any other kind of foam, right? I guess I've gotten a little lost again.

The mention of OMF and Denver came while I was typing.. Which at OMF is "acceptable"? They have a store that is "only" 2.5...
