Went shopping with the wife at BBBY and stopped over at the bedding section to have a laugh at the toppers (such as I usually do), and was very surprised to see a bin of latex pillows for $29.99. So with one of those 20% off coupons (that everyone has 50 of), that would be $24. The kings were $49.99

I took one out of the bag, and its the real deal, no gimmicks. Generous amount of latex. It had a zippered cover, so I opened it up to see the latex. Seemed like talalay to me! Then I noticed that one of the tags indeed said "TALALAY LATEX FOAM".

Anybody own one of these things and care to comment? I'm thinking about buying one next time I'm around there. I have no clue what to expect sleeping on a latex pillow.

Those are probably the same pillows that Sears (made for Sears) and maybe Penneys (made for JCP) carries. They are talalay latex. I have 3 latex pillows, and I love them all. I have a queen size I got from Sears, and I sleep on that. I have 2 standard sizes that I use for (one of them) for in between the knees for comfort. The standard sizes are not as thick as the queen. So that is why I like the queen size. The other standard one was a softer one that has bigger holes in the middle that I got at Penneys. They are all made by the same US company Latex International. I love the smell of faint vanilla.

Sears had them for 50% off at one time. I like those the best, the ones at Penneys were different like I said softer in the middle. So that is what I know. Happy shopping.

Also I saw the ones at BBB, but I think Sears had them cheaper. They are also (I believe) made by Latex International.

For those looking for latex pillows, I have recently seen them at WalMart. I don't remember the exact price, but I think they were in the $30 range.

I bought one of the latex pillows at BBB last night (with coupon), and slept on it. It's fine, and I will keep it, but I will also be looking for a firmer pillow. I'm a side sleeper, and I need something a little firmer.

I checked the Sears Web site, and there is a "buy one, get one free" deal on pillows until August 15. The standard-size latex pillow is about $40 there. Seems like a good deal (two for $40), and the reviews are generally positive. However, a couple of reviewers said the pillow was not quite firm enough for them.

I suspect that Ill have to shell out more $ -- more than I've ever considered spending for a pillow -- for a firm-enough latex pillow, maybe from SleepLikeABear.com.

There are also some latex pillows at Overstock.com right now.

Catherine, what size pillow did you get? Was it standard? As my previous post said the larger the size the thicker the pillow is. I found that out the hard way too. If you want firmer, I guess you mean thicker? Queen is just right for me. Standard was too flat. King would probably be too thick for me.

Yes, I got a standard. My bed is a full/double, not queen, so I'm sticking with standard pillows rather than queen or bigger. I think if I had two bigger (longer) pillows side by side, they'd both be hanging over the side of the bed slightly.

Firmer: I don't know if thicker would do it or not; maybe it would. I was thinking more along the lines of "less squooshy" (a little less give).

I decided to hold off on buying anymore latex pillows for now. I've already spent a bunch of $ on a new foundation and mattress (a firm, flippable innerspring, made by Jamestown Mattress, to be delivered this week), new mattress encasings (for allergies), and new bed linens (all my current stuff is old & very worn out). Also, I realized that I like to scrunch up my pillow a bit, which I think would be hard to do with a solid latex pillow. So I wound up buying some fiberfill pillows on sale at Penney's -- I'd seen some rave reviews elsewhere of Sealy firm pillows (for side sleepers), and Penney's had them at a great price.

(Hopefully I'm done spending big chunks of $ for a while now, but if my firm mattress turns out to be a little too firm, then I'll be re-reading various threads here and looking at latex toppers.)

This site has been a huge help to me.
