Just over at Overstock.com looking for toppers, and found something I don't recall seeing before - a Bodipedic 2" latex topper pad - for $90 delivered!
All sizes are the same price, which makes the king by far the cheapest 2" topper on the market. Oh, and it's supposedly made in the USA The listing had no process or firmness info so I called and the OS rep swore it was 16 ILD talalay, and sent me an email confirming the fact so I would have it in writing. I'm still skeptical that it is really going to be latex, but at that price I couldn't resist ordering one, and will report here what comes. Hopefully it will come in some kind of packaging that will say what it is, or at least, who manufactures it (OS wouldn't tell me, but they say in the listing it has a 3 year manufacturer's warranty so I assume they will tell me after the sale).
Oh, I asked about the notorious no-returns policy and they said that it would be returnable if still in the original unopened packaging if I just had changed my mind, but that if something is not as described they even pay for the shipping return so I should be pretty safe if it turns out to not be latex, or talalay - or king. Turns out not to be latex - it's labled, and looks, and smells, like memory foam. Also, it turns out to be made by Sleep Innovations, who do not do any latex at all according to their webpage. Oh well, would have been a heck of a deal if true. Oh, OS was pretty easy on the return and is sending a prepaid label so I can ship it back at no expense. No apology but no hassle either. and the rep seemed sublimely uninterested in the fact that they listing was deceptive. I tried halfheartedly to see if I could talk them into sending me the $175 ECO latex as a replacement, but no luck. Probably just as well, there are questions about its legitimacy too. |
