I do believe that Green Sleep has some models that would be under $3,000.  They use coils and latex, no PU foam whatsoever.

What happened with me and the Flobed was very weird.  If it was soft enough for me to easily fall asleep and not feel any pressure, I woke up in what I call a smiley-banana shape where my waist/ribcage area sunk too much.  When I firmed it up by switching layers, it was difficult to fall asleep because of pressure and things like my downside arm and ear (yes, ear) would go numb.  But if I persevered and managed to fall asleep, about 4-5 hours later I would wake up in the smiley-banana shape again - it was as if my body heat and pressure (most of our body heat is in our mid-torso because that is where all the internal organs are) somehow softened up even the firmer latex under me to the point where I sank in too much.  Remember, I am only about 100 lb so this...

Roy, I don't know whether Marlene's misinformation is "deliberate," but it is misinformation.  I replied to her about the issue in this thread:

Specifically:

"No Marlene, you are wrong.

Sam's Club sells two latex mattresses.  One is 100% latex and the other is not.  These mattresses are made by Innomax.

The American Sleep Organic Mattress  sold by Sam's Club is a 100% latex mattress.  It is the same as the White Night Premium Organic Sleep System sold by Innomax.  The "ultra form" you mention just refers to zoned Dunlop latex.  Innomax sources their latex from Latexco, which makes zoned Dunlop latex.

The American Sleep Eco-Green Latex Mattress sold by Sam's Club is not 100% latex.  It is the same...

Thanks Budgy.  At some point down the road I might be upgrading to a larger mattress, and move what I am currently using to a spare bedroom.  I am a side sleeper and like it on the medium to soft side.  From what I have tried,  I think I prefer the spring+latex+something else soft  combo to all latex.   I am also liking the concept of having a good base coil / box spring system, with a seperate/customizable comfort layer.

Vi-spring is not anywhere close to where I live, and does not have a seperate top layer (from I know).  Might be too expensive as well.  Hastens is at least nearby, and the very top layer might have some flexibility.  A lot of built in fibre though and probably the most expensive option (although I don't know what a Vi-spring costs).   Still, I will probably at least try a Hastens at some point to see...

GreenSleep's website is supposed to be re-launched fairly soon.  Not really sure what that means in terms of days, weeks or months though.  Some searching and you can find some good info from certain retailers on line if you want detailed specs

GreenSleep's website is really out of date right now.  The coil beds are new and have yet to be added, they are planning on re-launching everything pretty soon.  Yes excluding some differences in upholstery you would be right.  As far as durability its hard to say...the Royal Pedics all use more upholstery in the cores of their mattresses (even the ones with removable tops)....I personally am always of the approach that the less polyurethane and the less fibre used, the better a mattress will hold its shape.  But as I have been quick to admit rubber itself has some limitations....all materials truly do.

My recommendations for a mattress with no consideration given to cost and unlimited budget assumed:

If someone likes anything firm to medium soft, rubber and or rubber with a quality spring core is simply the most practical. Holds its shape better, still very...

Where does one find information on these mattresses?  There isn't anything about a coil mattress on the GreenSleep website!  Am I missing it?  Thanks!

It's funny you mention that, Budgy actually pointed me to a few mattresses... namely the Royal Pedic, Green Sleep & a sleeptek that is sold in the US by "The Clean Bedroom" as the "Naturally Organic European Tufted Cotton Organic Mattress".  Since  all three of those lines are carried by The Clean Bedroom, I swung up to their Westport location today to check them out.  Unfortunately they didn't have any Green Sleep in the showroom, but they had both the Royal Pedic and "Naturally Organic" on the floor so I was able to compare them.  I liked them both a lot, and found them to be fairly comparable in feel.  The Royal Pedic is a good...
