Re: Maybe I'll buy an S brand bed... Here's a latex mattress I've never heard of though... uses Omalon as a base - jimsocal

Okay, I found where I wrote down the bed I liked at my sister's house. It is a Symbol Rest. That is all the info I have. I am not sure which model it is, but I am betting it's the top one at this web site:

http://207.59.38.211/products/noFlip.htm

It could be the one at the top of the page, the Ultimate Plush. The only other one I think it might be is the Regular Pillow top, the next to last one on the page. I am betting it is the top one with the Double Offset coils which might explain why I like it better than my Bonnell coils. However the other one I think it could be does have Bonnell coils. I will try to get further info from my sister but knowing her, she won't know anything about it.

Maybe I'll buy an S brand bed... - jimsocal

Got your attention!

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Anyway, I actually AM considering trying something more along the lines of a traditional S brand bed, if not an actual S brand.

Why?

There are a number of reasons. I visited my family recently and so slept on 4 different beds:

1) My mom's pull-out couch. This consisted of some flexible wire with about 3" of crappy foam on top. I thought, "Oh my god! I'm going to wake up unable to move in the morning!" I slept on it a total of about 4 nights. I actually woke up less sore than with my own "scientifically designed" DIY latex plus springs mattress. Was it comfy? No. But it did not hurt my back.

2) My sister's "Symbol Rest" mattress. I'm not sure of the model, I will try to...

Well, my mattress set from Original Mattress Factory arrived tuesday, and I was totally impressed with the ultra-professional delivery personnel and how efficiently they maneuvered the queen mattress up two flights of stairs and around an awkward turn....without squishing the mattress. The other store who delivered my former Symbol, just crammed it around the bend, pushed it, etc., And last night sleeping was a dream come true. Originally I had purchased a Legacy firm set, for $539 plus an up-charge for split box. But the day before, I drove to the store, about 45 minutes away, one last time for a "sleep" test, and was glad I did! I changed my order and upgraded to an orthopedic extra firm set, for $669. It felt so much more comfortable and I could feel the different type of springs, which were much closer together, under my...
Springs not foam, make the difference - Marybeth

Took me over a month to really learn the difference through trial and error, but I made my decision.  I just purchased a queen mattress set, firm, made in a small factory where only 30 mattresses are made daily.   All of them by hand, using coils, cotton batting and just a small amount of foam under the top surface, and they are flippable!  And the real box spring is composed of coils, cotton and wood, not just wood and a cover.  A month ago I originally piurchased a top of the line Symbol Comfortec Firm, with split box (made of wood and fabric only) and had it for 2 weeks and it began to sink in the center.  After complaing to the manufacturer and dealer, I was lucky enough to get my money back which is very unusual.  When I went into THAT store and said I wanted a mattress with NO foam,...
Does anyone have (good / bad / indifferent) feedback about Oodles (Latex "noodles") --VERDICT is IN!!! - SKeeter

Hi everyone - I posted a question about this in the previous topic about toppers, but I thought it might get buried there. So I thought I'd start a new one since I'm specificaly interested in whether anyone has experience with Oodles products.

For a variety of reasons, i need a new mattress topper. I was thinking of getting the 2" latex topper from Overstock.com to see how it worked. But while searching tonight, I ran across these "Oodles" products. (Actually they appear to use the infinity symbol (\infty) instead of 'O's in the product name).

I've tested and LOVED shredded latex pillows for the loft and "down alternative" feel.  Apparently Oodles makes pillows AND toppers using latex pellets they call 'springs,' and some kind of natural corn fiber???. (I worry about allergies with the corn fibers... I wonder if there is any info on that anywhere...) I was curious if anyone...

Hi Everyone -

I've been lurking for awhile learning about latex beds, toppers, pillows, etc. I recently realized that a number of my health problems could be traced back to my older, yellowing memory foam topper. I took it off the bed trying to figure out if it was causing my indoor allergies, and it turns out it was causing both my husband and I problems - including aching joints, stuffy nose, night sweats for him; and chronic sinusitis, joint pain and a lot of respiratory congestion for me. I was surprised to learn it was the memory foam becuase we'd had it for a few years.  But these problems did develop and worsen gradually (we figured we were just getting 'older,') and the topper was yellowing, crumbling and looking increasingly decrepit these days. So my husband figured it was probably releasing more chemicals as it broke down - probably adding to...

I just looked at the Costco website, and I could not find the density of the memory foam for the 10" Emma.  The sleep science website no longer shows the 10" version.

How do you know it is 5lb.?  Did they tell you that?  My memory was that it was 4lb., but maybe I remember it wrong.  The 5 lb. memory foam they had on the Celeste seemed pretty good, so hopefully that is what it is.

Yes, I confirmed the thickness during discussions I had w/ the manufacturer before I purchased (may also be in literature I have, but I'll have to look).  Below was captured off Sleep Science website for the 8.5" mattress.  .

This is my first post. I’ve read most of this forum posts (including legacy) re latex mattresses.

So……..Help!!!

I’ve fallen prey to an engineers’ nightmare “Analysis Paralysis”.  It’s time to purchase a new eastern king mattress.

Currently we’re sleeping on an 8 yr old Serta Perfect Night (non-pillow top, no-flip) approximately 15” thick which has developed body ruts about 1.5”-2” deep on both sided with the complimentary  continental divide (we call it Puff-A-Lump) in the middle.  I’m 5’11”, 265lbs, 58yrs old and the lovely wife is 5’4”, 180lbs, also 58yrs old. (I know….for Christmas we joined the YMCA and are using it regularly so these weights WILL be reduced). We’re...

Anyone know?

I've seen the symbol, and the guys back before presumably on a mattress commercial or something but I can't find it by searching. Just trying to find the company so I can lookup what a mattress set normally costs so I can't tell if I'm getting a good deal.
