OMG.. I cannot believe this site and how many people continue to try to invent their own mattresses to find comfort.. Perhaps your old coil mattress is crappy becaue it is old or it wasn't a good one to begin with.. I have had both latex and memory everything and have come to the conclusion you need a really good coil support with a really good covering and a med. firm bed for a good nights sleep.. forget all these toppers and trying to be a mathmetician to figure out what density you need for this or that..it is all hype to make you spend more dollars. I would like to just save one person from making a huge money pit of mistakes for the mattress they think they will construct. The only way you can find the perfect mattress is to do serious shopping...

>>Do you really believe that the blended latex will last 2 times longer than 100% natural rubber?
I believe they will both last long enough to justify trying them, and I have no reason to doubt the manufacturer's product claims and warranty implication relating to comparative performance and durability. Your disagreement is with LI, not me.
>>Even the link to SleepEZ website makes some 100% false claims such as "Man made from petroleum products and created thru chemical reactions has the same cell structure appearance as natural"
I'm not promoting any one source of information as being 100% accurate. People here typically want to find information and form their own conclusions. Sometimes some information is 'don't care' or 'not important' so total accuracy is not relevant... and it's understood that certain sources are presenting their own understanding of the subject matter and that they may...

>>I'd would LOVE to hear any opinions of anyone here. Thanks!
Oh, you shouldn't have said that! :-)
It's not clear what type of mattress you have.. innerspring? And it's principle fault... core support or surface comfort? Try the mattress on the floor, if the foundation is suspect.
The difference in your two body profiles may make one solution difficult. Especially difficult if you are trying to fix something unfixable with the original mattress such as core support.
It seems to me that your 1" or 2" layers tried or proposed are all on the soft side (except the 32 ILD but it's only 2" and barely firm), which suggests you are trying to adjust surface comfort. Yet side sleeping and sore hips suggest you really want/need to fix deeper core support/response.
Another big issue... king size experiments can be costly... if...
Help with upper back pain - new mattress - wagnerpe1
May 6, 2012 11:00 AM
I have had my new mattress for 9 days and have been waking up after about 5 hours of sleep with shoulder and upper back pain. When I called the salesman he said it was common and to give it a couple of weeks. Luckily I think, the mattress I purchased - Verlo; a local company - allows for one free comfort adjustment in the first 6 months of ownership. You can comfort adjust all you want, but only the first one is free. The bed feels fine to me when I get in - not too soft, not too firm; I'm not too picky about that. It's just later that I wake up in pain. If I were to change the comfort layer, what should I do to relieve this pain - make it softer or firmer? Thanks for any help you can give.
Anyway - a...
Latex mattress information overload - Gavsmompa

We tried a Savvy Rest mattress over the weekend and really liked it. The suggestion for a soft/med/firm was made for me since I am a side sleeper primarily and med/firm/firm for my husband who sleeps on his back. I personally like the Talalay on top and my husband liked the Dunlop medium which was recommended although he thought it could be firmer. We've also been shopping around on the internet and have focused on two companies, highly recommended here, SleepEZ and Flobeds. I spoke to both Shawn at Sleep Ez and Dewey at Flobeds. The same configuration was suggested by Shawn at Sleep EZ as was given to us by Savvy Rest and we could mix and match either Talalay or Dunlop. Flobeds however only uses Talalay so their configuration would be a Med/Firm for me and Firm on XF for my husband and they were pushing the Vzone...
