Re: Foam Sweet Foam vs Rocky Mountain Mattress - jimsocal

I have no experience with Rocky Mountain Mattress, but I can tell you that I am totally satisfied with my 3 inch Queen size topper from Foam Sweet Foam. It arrived promptly, in pristine condition, and has done the job for me. The queen size has a seam on one side but it's very cleanly done and totally invisible when in use. I chose to order it without the cover and feel that was the correct decision. The bare latex does NOT move around at all. I just covered it with another old fitted sheet on top, then a standard fitted mattress pad. I would buy from them again.
Mark, glad you are happy with fsm's foam! Hope it solves your mattress issue(s). Right, latex on latex or latex on foam does not move around. In fact, latex on much...

Wow Budgy that is interesting, carbon huh? Are they selling those in the US? I am not interesting in the fire retardants, I don't smoke and if I don't wake up fast enough to run from a fire then I am not as light of a sleeper as I thought LOL.
Thanks for informing us of that information.

Re: Newbie Latex Bed Help - KimberlyH

Kimberly,
Yes! Thank you! I totally want honesty here. I'm not so concerned about organic when it comes to bed choices. I'm concerned about chemical flame retardents and natural latex. I am SO unhappy with the PU foam mattress that I'm wanting to stick with natural latex. But whether it's organically grown isn't much of a concern.
So based on your assessment, I need to rethink the buying local plan and look at an online retailer?

Amber, to the best of my knowledge, chemical flame retardents are not added to latex during the manufacturing process. There was some discussion on this forum about Latex Green making a latex with flame retardents, but I think he also said that particular formulation...

i don't think ive seen anyone selling latex green's version of it...but I distinctly remember seeing one website in the US that was selling this type of latex...I believe there are several asian companies making this type of product now. I think a lot of it stems from the way they use their latex cores there. Most people in SE Asia that sleep on a latex bed probably have only a very simple covering to keep the cost down and also because they would maybe have a preference to sleep as directly as they can on the rubber. They might have their own basic fire codes there to follow and using this graphite in the mix would allow them to do this very cheaply. Lets keep in mind that latex is actually very flammable without something added...so it would give them some minimal protection....

Maybe that was what I read, regarding chemical preservatives used during transportation to the US . . . Budgy, do you think they are talking about preservatives while transporting the liquid latex to the US for latex foam manufacture?
Yes...they do add ammonia as an anti-coagulant before transportation. Although Kimberly, you are absolutely right about Latex Green too. The funny thing about this company is that they were specifically talking about the preservatives....Latex Green adds ammonia as well, presumably not as much as Latex International or other US or Europe processed latex foams would have to add. Natural rubber would vulcanize naturally upon exposure to air within a matter of maybe 6 or 7 hours without anything being added. The only company I know of that tries to bypass this is...
"The Natural" Organic Mattress from SleepEZ - pryncesslia
Apr 21, 2010 12:23 PM
I am just doing the final bits of research before I buy, and emailed SleepEZ with a few questions about their "organic" latex mattress. Their answers provided info I couldn't find on their website, so I thought I'd post it here in case anyone else is interested.
The organic mattress line can come with Natural Dunlop or Natural talalay.
If you order the Dunlop each layer is 3" total 12". If you order the
talalay latex each layer is 2.8" total 11.2" actually. Then you add the cover with
quilting and finished product is about 13". Our Talalay Latex comes from
Latex International and the Dunlop Latex we purchase from Sleep Comp. They
supplies us Latex from Latex Green who makes Dunlop Latex.
I would recommend you both start with...
Re: Adjustable Latex Bed at Costco - Natalia

Natalia - #1 has always been my #1 choice, as well. But, even with Costco's excellent return policy, I'm still having a hard time convincing her.
I was also already considering #2. But, even with the guarantee, TP's prices are kinda steep. I suppose I could buy the motorized frame locally. But, $5K is a lot for the matts alone.
Thanks for the tip about Sleep Train. I thought all the chain stores had only exchange guarantees. It's good to know one has a money-back guarantee. OTOH, ST's prices were pretty steep. Looks like full MSRP on everything. Do they haggle like the others?
Gary, I forgot to tell you Mattress Discounters is owned by Sleep Train. MD has better prices but no money back, and only a 60 night...

The ILD is 15 (trying to replicate the Pranasleep 10ILD, 2" top layer). As for the smell , it's hard to describe but initially (just out of the shrink bag) it was not something I would like to bury my nose in. Upon returning from our workout at the YMCA it wasn't quite as intense so we decided to make up the bed with it as the layer directly under the bottom fitted sheet.
Because my wife has enjoyed the difference in comfort from just this 2" topper, she has given me the "OK" to build the rest of the bed (a FloBed Natural Deluxe-Natural Talalay Latex Green Mattress). If it wasn't so late here I would be on the phone now! I'm leaning toward F/XF/XF for both sides and believe my wife will get all the softness she says she likes from the substitution of the 2" Celsion topper in...

Re: Update on my Costco Latex - inthepink

Read all previous threads on the all latex Costco mattress and never considered Sam's club. Thank you for all the information. My Costco queen latex mattress and foundation arrived today and is meant for the guest room. Delivery guys were great. The mattress does have an odor and is not laying smoothly so I called Sleep Science and they were on the phone quickly explaining that the smell is due to the plastic wrap and the bumps are due to mattress being folded. I was told that the smell should go away soon and the latex should level out as well. It feels great. I will spend about $100+ for a snug-fleece wool topper so that guests won't be too warm sleeping straight on the latex. I've been sleeping on another latex mattress and love, love, love it. I purchased from Green Mattress co. a couple of years ago. Each latex layer was wrapped and it had a wonderful wool cover, no smell,...
