Re: Just bought a new Flobeds - eagle2

Just thought I would add a side note to my ongoing experience with my FlowBed.
I had requested an exchange of my firm piece of blended latex, for a firm piece of all natural latex. I was just comparing the shipping weight for the blended piece of latex compared to the shipping weight for the all natural that was shipped yesterday.
There is a 7.6 pound differential between the blended and the natural. The shipping box for the natural weights 31 pounds, the shipped box for the blended weight 23.4 pounds. This is due to the difference in density between the blended piece and the all natural piece, both of them being rated Firm with an ILD of 32.
This is the point I was trying to make with the PDFs that I posted from the Polyurethane Foam Association in my thread "What is...

This company has only been around for about three years now. Being a Canadian company they cannot be checked out Through the Better Business Bureau. At least I don't know how to do it.
They make some claims that sound quite fishy to me and I would not trust them with my money.
That's all I can tell you. But I would be very leery of them. By the way, do you live in Canada?
If you live in the United States there are a lot of good companies you can do business with here that are quite legitimate, well tested, and trustworthy. FloBeds has been in business for 30 years. There BBB rating is A plus excellent. They have not had any negative complaints in well over seven years. There are many other companies mentioned in these forums that are respected and people have had excellent results with doing business with...

I have been searching the Internet for six months now as regards mattresses. Never in any of that time have I ever come across the term, "natural latex rubber memory foam". Visco-elastic polyurethane foam is the proper name given to memory foam, it is manufactured from petrochemicals, not natural rubber (IE taken from the rubber tree).
There are all kinds of people making all kinds of "memory foam" from all kinds of petrochemical sources. It is the hot buzzword in mattress material, alongside the word latex. These words are meaningless today unless there is more descriptive information given. This is quite unfortunate, but quite common in this day and age of 24/7 advertising. Anything, and everything, is being done in order to make a sale.
Until the federal government steps in and requires a strict stipulation about what the various terms mean, as applied to bedding, the customer is going to have...

From the SleepEz FAQ on their website:
"Where does your latex come from ?
We purchase our latex from the three most respected suppliers in the world: Dunlopillo UK, Latex Internationl USA, and Radium Foam thru Sleep Comp West. We carry only the Talalay process in blended, and in natural."
So I wouldn't assume that the latex you order from SleepEz is LI latex. You might be able to specify LI latex in your order though, not sure....

The Costco mattress is a good deal, but I don't like the way it is configured. I would still be more tempted to configure my own. If you want fairly cheap, Sleepez has 100% natural dunlop or blended Talalay 3" queen pieces for $357 and 2" for $238 (or 100% natural talalaly for a slight premium) . A 10" terrycloth cover is $105 (queen size). And you can buy firm (38-40), medium (30-32) or soft (22-24). For some reason they only list the soft and medium in Talalay, but I am sure they could get firm (and probably XF) if you asked. They also have 1" and 1.5" pieces. There is a $49 shipping charge and 30 day guarantee. Probably no sales tax to most states. So, for around $1200 you can configure you own 9" and have some flexibilty to switch layers....

so then what IS the cheapest option to put together ~10" of L.I.in at least x-firm (w/cover)?
because honestly the more photos i see of all natural (dunlop anyway) the less i want. green, white, anything....

congrats!
unfortunately we're unlikely to get any f.b. reports from those who recently ordered this one, not before it's too late anyway. because you guys won't even get it shipped before this deal expires on the 3rd, by which time the sale will be over. but especially for you, what's the harm in trying? considering you've bought & returned a couple already, this is as low risk as you can get.
i initially disqualified it for me because as k.h. mentions 24ild over 32ild is its "medium/firm" orientation, & being the firmest option possible it still doesn't sound...

I agree the term "natural memory foam" is quite misleading. I think in using the term, the company was simply trying to make the link to Tempurpedic. There is actually quite a bit of educational information on their Web site. Here is how they describe their memory foam:
Our petroleum-free foam was developed in-house and is the only natural memory foam manufactured in the world. Similar to natural latex foam, our natural memory foam is also made from rubber tree sap but organic essential oils, plant extracts and water are added into the foam composition to give it a memory foam like feel.
Has no one heard of this mattress? I was hoping someone could tell me if it lives up to the company's comfort claims.

push for an exchange or return.
natural latex does have a slight smell to it, but if it is REALLY noticeable it is probably because it got wet. if you get latex wet and it stays wet it will smell really bad. so actually do not attempt to wash this piece just in the event they might exchange it for another piece of latex as it may make it only easier for them to not return it. ...

been a while since I have posted here....so long in fact my account was wiped lol.
there are many things mentioned about their product that makes me question just exactly what goes into their products....much of the information given is incredibly ambiguous and vague. which in my experience is really just something done by marketing.
"Latex:
Milky white sap of the Rubber tree, collected much like Maple tree sap, which coagulates upon exposure to air. Sourced from Indonesia, our 100% natural Dunlop Latex is collected from Rubber Plantations where acceptable working conditions are maintained and there is no practice of child labour.
