I have no experience with waterbeds but Eagle does, so perhaps he will see your post and respond. If you are considering latex and want to try out another brand, there is a company called Sleeptek in Canada. I think perhaps they're in Ottawa. They make several models of Dunlop latex mattresses. I tried their mattresses here in the states that a local specialty "natural bedding" store carried, and there was one I really liked. It felt very comfortable for me; the bottom layer was very firm but the top layer was soft. However, I did not buy from them for several reasons, two of them being that they were very expensive (way more than Flobeds) and they allowed no exchanges (not even for a different one of their beds) or returns. Not only was it too expensive, but also I was not...

Hi Elaine, I have a lot of muscle, nerve and joint pain as well as back problems, so need a very supportive mattress but with soft on top in order to relieve pressure points (side sleeper). I ended up going with Flobeds who were great to deal with. I got 100% natural talalay latex (they don't carry dunlop or I probably would have gotten that for the lower layer at least as it's denser and perhaps more supportive). If you look through my past threads as well as those of others (Eagle and Kimberly have both posted their experiences with talalay latex in terms of their back issues, and others such as Catlover have posted positive experiences with dunlop from Savvyrest). And there are of course many other informative posts. Seems like a few people, such as Jim (known for his mattress surgery...
Flobeds question - randys
Dec 11, 2009 7:21 AM
Just what I dont want to have to do, more hassle, ignore me as I am beginning to suffer actual depression over waking up in extreme pain every morning while laying on a $4,000 mattress

OK, now, the first thing I see on flobeds sight is I have to choose between

Latex Mattress/Talalay/V Zone/Natural Vzone

What?

(I will have more questions, I know I can ask Flobeds but I want unbiased opinions if possible)

Which one do I choose?  Why would I choose this over that?

also, for those of you who have had latex beds during warm times of the year, doesnt the bed react to that and dont they sleep warm?

so how did your client react to the tempurpedic causing more back pain than the cheap costco? or did you not completely level on that front?  they can get passionate/testy when doing you a favor like that, then get the feeling you're not fully appreciating it... i once even had a "breakup" with a friend who sells furniture over not seeing things her way. it started out passive-agrresive ("fine waste your money on cheap $%!# i don't care" etc.), until i did spend my money elsewhere ("it's the principle of it- if you call yourself a friend you'd buy from me!").  at least yours is a client, all business.  he might just cancel his policy with you.  but i'll never go there again!

anyway hopefully costco's natural latex is even better, let us know how it works.

Well, they want me to be happy of course so I am sleeping on the Bellafina now, and it isnt getting any better..I will give it a little while...

I believe sleepez.com has 100% natural talalay toppers.  Might only come in 3".  Not sure who makes them, so you should call them.  Latex international seems to have a good reputation for quality.  It might be made by them.

Sleeplikeabear.com has various inches and ILDS, but only in blended Talatech and Celsion.

If you call some of the places, they may be able to order what you want even if they don't normally stock it.  Try flobeds, sleepez, or sleeplikeabear.

A number of people have complained about the foambymail latex.   They also have questioned the accuracy of the product description.

Good luck.  Sorry to hear you have had so many problems.

from sleepez.com website:

"Only the finest latex is used for our latex mattresses and latex mattress toppers. Our suppliers are the largest and most respected in the world: Latexo, Latex International, Dunlopillo, Radium, and Latex Green. We give you a choice of blended talalay, Dunlop...

I have the v-zone, which is mainly for side sleepers.  So, you can have it a bit softer (or firmer) under the shoulders or hips.  I don't think it makes a huge difference.  I find the main advantage for me is having it softer under the shoulders.  That can be a source of pressure for me on a firm bed.  I initially had softer under the hips, but felt like I was sinking in too much.  So, I have that firmer for now.  I don't think it matters too much what is under the head or legs.  Firmer at the rib and knee area is a slight plus.  In your case where you might need more customization the vzone might be a slight plus, but it does add an additional level of complexity.

The natural is denser and thus might provide better support according to eagle.  I would probably get that if...

on gel, yes, you are right, so different from way back when... i tried a 95% waveless one, do you think there is a big difference between 95% and 100% waveless? i'm so torn, because my husband will hurt me haha if this doesn't work out :) i know the 95% waveless one had lumbar support too.... it seemed so comfy, but i couldn't stay on it because they didn't have the heater on... i'm not a fan of hard beds anyway, but i'm just wondering if a waterbed will put my back in a weird albeit natural position... my husband says i'm too big for a waterbed, that my center will sink down, but i said 'fat floats!!' i'm not sure which of us is right lol...

linda, i know about Natura, I haven't actually tried any of their latex tho i hear it compresses over time, i've been thru sooooooo many beds for my back, that my husband is getting angry lol i imagine he will be even more angry if our waterbed springs a leak and floods the house tho!! eagle2 i contacted flobeds when i was thinking of doing mattress surgery, and he knew nothing about duty, and i loathe ups as they charge their own charges for no apparent reason, carrying charges i imagine lol, and then they forget to collect them and soon they are affecting your credit rating and you knew nothing about them! i know i will be taking a risk dropping a grand on a water bed, as there is no returning THEM... and if i find out by day two that it's going to...
Help with softer Latex topper than FBM "Soft" 20 ILD on top of firm Stearns Foster Luxury Firm? - shovel99

Hi Folks,

Thanks to all on this forum who share their insights on getting a better bed combo/night's sleep.

I have been through 16 mattresses and 30 toppers in all combinations to try to build a bed my 5'3" 110 lb back sleeping wife (likes firm) and I (170lb 50/50 side and back sleeper (medium)... with lower back pain... can sleep on.  And both of us are hot and hate the heat aspect of foam mattresses and padding.  We are a tough case.  But my back has been killling me for 4 years, such that I had/have to do something.

At least 1500 hours logged in mattress blogs, mattress stores, and swapping them and giving away toppers.

We spent 4 years and thousands of dollars and hours chasing "sleep separation".... "conforming mattresses" ( Beautyrest, separate coils, memory and latex foam) ... before Iearned in the last month n  Peter Cancellis blog that...

I am buying this Costco Mattress today as well in Cal King for only $1500. Very close to buying a Savvy Rest but this price and Costco's return policy are just too good to pass up. Hoping someone will receive and review this bed soon. I will when mine comes. Unfortunately that is quoted as 4 to 6 weeks....
