Talalay Vs. Dunlop Latex - Lynn2006

From all my readings about Dunlap versus Talalay process methods and from my experience with that one Dunlap topper ( I have not experienced any Dunlap latex cores that may be great for bottom support), it seems that the Talalay Process cleans out the latex better and produces more consistent pin holes that produce more consistent ILD's throught the latex core and that the firmer Talalay Latex has a very long life. Latex International says that Talalay Latex lasts longer than Dunlap Latex but Latex International manufactures Talalay Latex.  :)

I have selected posts from various sites below to help others make the decision.

I am happy with the Talalay Latex cores I have from FloBeds that buys them from Latex International (but my topper is from Brylane Homes since I wanted a 1" topper that was soft made with the Talalay Processing.... Dave did sent me three toppers but they were...

I think you will be happy with the Talalay blended latex cores since I find I am not allergic to them and I am allergic to a lot of things in life.

I would ask Dewey if he can get you a powered bed since he and Dave may know places that have them or may be able to get you a good deal.

I was able to make the latex pieces as small as they came to me so the shipping was not a lot and at first I got return labels since Dave felt I should go softer than I had wanted to go and then he paid the postage to have me have the firmer latex layers that I was going to order initially before my phone call to him.  Most people not quite 5 feet and very petite like me like much softer beds that I do...

Thanks for all the info.

I'm leaning towards going firmer rather than softer.  Especially since I'm on the heavier end of the scale and I really want some decent support.

As far as memory foam goes, I really would like something more "natural", especially since I have a young son that often ends up in bed with us. (Even though we have the pillows.)  As well, even though my partner likes the feel of memory foam, he really likes the durability of latex. (As in, not having to go through this process again soon).

Oddly enough, the hardest part for me is trying to decide which company to go with, not the idea of a kit itself. Well that, and how to configure the layers.  I am going to be importing this bed into Canada, so I really, really, really don't want to do more than one exchange.  Luckily, I live about...
Re: So..What's the best mattress? (making a purchase soon) - dfam

Thank you kindly for the replies, I really appreciate it.

I did a little research around the forums as suggested, as well as some research around the internet.  I also went shopping (twice) for a mattress type I felt was most comfortable at sleepy's and better bedding.  It came down to either memory foam, or latex, more specifically a sealy full latex, tempur-pedic, or comforpedic.  And although the sealy and comforpedic were indeed quite comfortable, I get this gut feeling I wouldn't like it after sleeping on it because it's simply too comfortable, if that makes sense...  The tempurpedics (rhapsody and deluxe) were nice the way they comformed to my body, but they seemed just a bit too firm, and the tempurature in the summer thing is probably my biggest turn-off.  I already have a hard enough time as it is sleeping in the summer heat.  Also it seems a lot of...

I’ve decided on the Select Sleep 8500 from SleepEZ but need to make a final decision on layers.  First, I’ll lay out (no pun intended) my stats and requirements:  I am a 51 yr. old female, 5’2” tall, 155 lbs.  I have lower back issues (degenerated disc at L5/S1), osteoporosis of the spine, osteopenia of the hips and a joint disease similar to Rheumatoid Arthritis.  To top it all off, I’m an insomniac and a stomach sleeper (at least to fall asleep – when I sleep at all).  This means that I need firm support but enough “cush” to avoid waking up with a frozen shoulder or an arm that’s asleep as I do now (currently extra firm innerspring with convoluted memory foam topper). Sean recommended firm/med/soft...
