When we did mattress surgery on our pricey Stearns and Foster mattress, we pulled out ALL the PU foam. We put latex on top of springs and it has been so much better for us. We did our DIY solution for I think right around $600 for an eastern king so you definitely can too. We got 2 pieces totaling 3" of latex from Foam by Mail (FBM on the forum), but it was still way too firm (2" of medium and 1" of soft, but consensus on the board here is that the firmness is really much higher than what is listed) so then we got a 2" topper of natural latex from Arizona mattress. It was anxiety producing to spend so much money for stuff I couldn't see/test before hand -- but well worth it in the end. We also tried a cheap memory foam pad and cuddlebed topper...

It was a Stearns & Foster, but the brand doesn't matter. They pretty much all start sagging rather quickly because of the cheap foam easily compressing and leaving you sleeping in a hole....

Hi.. I had a wonderful Latex springfree by Sealy.. however the thing bowed across the middle after only 1 1/2 years.. I couldn't find it again as nobody told me they are now being made by Stearns & Foster.. but it was too late.. ended up going with a high end memory foam.. omg.. a nightmare for my body.. so much pain etc. and the pain really came when there was nothing for me to exhchange out to at the store I purchased it.. all the beds were so cheap.. so I simply put it in my guest room.. so then I had to search again and finally came to the conculsion to just not look at all the expensive and to go back to a decent coil.. found a reputable Mattress Company and did buy a 1000 yes that's right 1000 dollar mattress from Restonic..not a well known name but...

Hello.. You poor thing one more person that just doesn't get it... forget about building the perfect mattress over something that already isn't right for you.. NO topper will be your fix.. please do yourself a favor and not waste your money doing this. By the time you finally find a topper which btw will not be a memory anything you will have exhausted your budget to only have another uncomfortable piece of material on that bed. Start saving your money and put it toward a firm mattress that has a good covering over it that doesn't include memory foam at all. it will condense and after a short time be a cave that your body falls into.. With any back issues you will need more support than memory foam can give you, even the best memory foam out there will become your enemy to your body. A really good...

Hi.. Your first mistake was to buy a pillow top on any mattress.. pretty much that is what you paid your money for that little pillow top. once the pillow top breaks down from body weight, your mattress is pretty much shot.... I believe it is the memory foam that is causing the heat.. however do you have one of those protective mattress pads on as well.. if so you will have to take it off to let the mattress breathe thus letting the heat out.. Trouble with all these mattresses is the fact that they all have different names and you have no clue what they mix in together to make it feel plush when you are trying these out.. Many have combinations of memory foam, visco, and latex.. by the way a good bed made of all latex usually is never sleeping hot.. but once you mix it...

Hi... I have an I-Comfort Prodigy Serta... if I had it to do all over again I would have stuck to my original plan.. buy another coil... I think all the hype over the memory foam beds is just that hype to make you spend an outrageous amt. of money period. My next beds will be the cheapest ones out there and will throw them away when they get bad. I have 3000 into the bed I am on now and am very unhappy. I had a defective latex one prior to it and it was wonderful for 1 year only and then it gave me much pain and developed a bow across the center. It was then I decided to stop all this research and just get the credit and go with whatever bed that amt. covered.. however like most consumers out there, I caved to the pitch on...

The Kirkland Stearns and Foster Mattress is the lowest grade of S&F mattresses known as the Traditional model. It has signle coil springs and not the newer Intellicoil with titanium alloy coil-in-a-coil springs in the next model up known as the Estate model. The Kirkland Stearns and Foster mattresses suffer the same sagging problems as other brands. For the most part S&F mattresses are not supposed to be discounted S&F tell the dealers what the price is supposed to be.. But they can be had at a discount.
From the S&F website.
The Tradtional model filling is listed as High-density, prestressed, furniture-grade upholstery foams to ensure durability. (Whatever that means).
The Estate model filling is listed as memory foam or rich latex foam that conforms to your shape while resisting compression. Sounds like a higher grade...

Stearns and Foster not a good mattressl - gramparick

In September of 2007 we bought a Stearns and Foster mattress from Crystal Coast Mattress, Highway 70 in New Bern, NC, paying $999.
(Bouquet Cushion Firm Queen Matt-S&F) It has been the worst mattress we have ever purchased. To top it off we can get no response from Stearns and Foster. Good luck with any "warrabty" given with the Stearns. After 3 years the mattress started sagging and got considerably worse. After emails to Stearns & Foster along with phone calls we have given up hope getting any satisfaction and bought a Serta.
On the sale side, the salesman at Crystal Coast Mattress actually talked us into this higher priced mattress after we had tentatively selected a cheaper mattress from another company. Not only will we not ever buy another Stearns & Foster mattress, we will never do business with Crystal Coast Mattress either.
Just this week we bought a...

*Hypersomnia
*Sleep Apnea (have yet to get a CPAP - need full face due to nasal inflammation every night)
*Delayed sleep syndrome (basically, im nocturnal)
*Turret syndrome (makes me move constantly against my will - not a direct sleep issue, i know, but it contributes to my issues)
*OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder - Everything must be perfect or i don't feel right)
*Allergies (I never had this issue until surgeons removed my tonsils and adenoids to try and get rid of my sleep apnea. It did not work, but it did succeed in giving me bad allergies. End result, i have to spit mucus every few minutes. Very disruptive to...
