In the past Latex International used to have their warranty information on their website.  From my recollection, the blended was warranted a greater number of years (20?) then the 100% natural.  Perhaps somebody else can verify this.  If Batman is around, he will know the answer....

I think jello is actually a pretty good description for all natural talalay latex! Linda: The new soft layer of Talalay I received from Flobeds to try out, is quite soft and does have a some what Jello feel. The mediam piece is some what firmer, and you might call it, "Jello like", I would not, but the firm and extra firm are surely not Jello in their consistency. And this is if you do not lay on them. Once you lay down on them and spread out the load you have an entirely...

Randy: I do not agree that latex feels like Jell-O. At least not the Jell-O that I'm used to.

Latex feels different than just about any other substance that I'm aware of. In my case I'm talking about 100% botanically grown natural Talalay process latex. I know, that's a lengthy name. Unfortunately, because nobody big enough that is willing do it has stepped in and required a universal definition for latex, this problem will persist.

It can be either a blended product of petrochemicals plus natural, and almost any percentage point, one way or the other. And processed by two different methods, either the Dunlop process or the Talalay process. Both processes produce a very different products. Or it can be a latex made out of 100% botanically grown material.

I'm sure the point has already been made, but Tempurpedic memory foam latex mattress, are made exclusively from petrochemicals. And...

Jim: This issue of which is superior, botanically grown hundred percent natural latex or blended latex has been debated ad infinitum.

I would genuinely like to know what the truth is, if it could be something other than just another opinion. It seems to be, that what ever product is the most desirable to the person selling it, is the product that is superior.

Habitat claims that only the 100% botanically grown latex is the superior product, and they will not sell a blended product because it is so inferior. They have very little good to say about blended latex. SleepEZ, on...

OK.  So I called Custom Comfort and told them I wasn't happy with their customer service.  They told me the core was going to be 32, what they delivered was 28, and since I am heavy, I was sinking right into it.  They told me they would come out next Thursday to pick it up and adjust it.

Randy,

When you are asking about Flobeds vs. Tempurpedic, what you are really asking is, latex mattress vs. memory foam mattress.

Although both are foam mattresses, they are made of different material and have quite a different feel to lie on.

A latex mattress is made of either natural rubber from a rubber tree, synthetic rubber, which is chemically identical, or a blended latex made up of both natural and synthetic rubber.

A Tempurpedic mattress is made of visco foam (memory foam).

They feel quite different.  In a Tempurpedic bed, the foam is heat responsive.  As your body warms up the foam, it will soften, and your body will "sink" into it somewhat and cradle it.  Some people liken it to lying on sand.  There is very little motion transfer between you and your partner.  People either love or hate Tempurpedics.  People who love them say they would never sleep on anything else again, and...

Thanks for the note on Flobeds.  I also came across Savvy and then seem to have high quality and a good price.

Hi John-
After researching for about 4 weeks, I finally ordered our bed on Saturday from Savvy Rest. I felt we really needed Dunlop, and if it turns out to be too firm, we can exchange for Talalay because they sell both. (Flobeds doesn't).

It costs more than SleepEZ, but after talking, at length, to both companies, my gut said to go with Savvy Rest. (although $600 more for our king w/foundation)

Savvy's owner, Michael Penny, is  helpful/ friendly, and he really seems to care about his products. And all his customer reps are informed as well. Everyone is helpful/friendly.

Because we need firm support for a bad back, we went with Dunlop as companies that sell both Dunlop & Talalay seem to say Dunlop has a more...
Latex mattreses at Jordan's in New England - JohnS

I looked at 2 Latex mattresses at Jordan's, a New England furniture store.  I was somewhat impressed that they listed at least some detailed information about the Latex on the tags.  Also, the sales person was very helpful.

The first was a mattress made by Nature's Rest, a company supposedly located in Massachusetts.
The specs were:  about $2200
Quilted layer
Organic cotton; 1 ounce Jona wool; antimicrobial fiber
     3/4" Talalay layer 19 ILD
     3/4" Talalay layer 19 ILD
Comfort Layer
     3" Dunlop  24 ILD
Support Layer
6" I-core 32 ILD (said to be Dunlop)
     shoulder channels
7/8" 1.45 Density Foam (said to just to cushion the platform)
Box Spring has 1/2" 1.45 density foam on top of wood foundation

The second was by Natura's mattress (but not organic) about $2400
Quilted layer
Cotton blend cover; 18 ounce smartwool
1" quilt flex (some kind foam)
Comfort layer
     2" Talalay latex 32 ILD 60/40 blend
2" top has it's own zipper...
