Welcome NavyWife2 and I am happy that you enjoy your FloBeds and just got another one with the customer service at FloBeds being exceptional which is what I found out also.
Eagle2, Please keep us updated on your FloBeds Latex Core Layers. I also found that when I first go to bed, I like a little more give on the bed and in the morning, I like the bed a little firmer but I still chose my bed as firm as I could with that little bit of cushion on top along with my heavenly latex pillow that I love so much. It took me 6 Overstock Natural Latex Pillows to find 2 that I love to be the right height for my small frame. The others I use as spare pillows and shams. ...

Which model did you get? The higher end models have a lot of latex and I'm surprised they would break down in only 2 years. If so, that may go a long way towards convincing people on this forum...

How does your latex mattress smell? - eagle2

I thought I would make a thread on this subject as it keeps coming up in so many of the posts.
I just purchased a California King, all botanically grown, Talalay processed latex mattress. I have been sleeping on it now for 10 days. The only odor that I am noticing is a very mild sweet smell. It's rather pleasant actually, and I rather enjoy it. It has been diminishing considerably over the last several days and soon it will probably be all gone. I think I'm going to miss it, just a little bit.
From everything I have been able to read on the subject, this seems to be one of the side advantages to botanically grown 100% natural Talalay, as opposed to a petrochemical-based products.
This bed was sold by FloBeds, and the latex material was manufactured by Latex International....

Jeff: Welcome to our little corner of the Internet.
I personally have a FloBeds 4 layer 100% natural botanically grown Talalay process latex bed. And I like it very much. But from what I have found during my research, over the last several months, if I were you, I would do a great deal more personal research regarding Tempurpedic mattresses. I layed on a few of them during my research and initially they felt good. But from what I have read on this site, and many other sites, quite a few customers who purchased them found out later that there were a variety of reasons that caused them to regret there purchase.
On the other hand there are some people who love them. But since they are so expensive I would certainly look at alternatives. Giving this site a good review, particularly the archives section should turn up some very interesting reading...

I know I said I wasn't going to post for several days until I have something new to report. But I had a couple thoughts that I thought I would pass along.
I will just mention that I had another good nights sleep last night. Two things I’ve noticed after having slept on this bed for a full week. Number one, and possibly of interest to some, is the fact that I cannot feel any crack between the two split layer side’s of the bed. This was something that was discussed at length on this forum recently. This business of having a split mattress in a king-size bed. I just cannot feel any division. What I can feel is the transition from the softer side of my bed to the firmer side of my bed. It should be noted here that the FloBeds provides a convoluted two inch piece of Talalay...

I finally made the jump and bought my latex mattress. It's from a samll company called Custom Comfort in Orange County, CA that builds their own mattresses. It's not a "build your own" style, it's a 6" core of 32 ILD with 2" softer on the top and the bottom (10" total). It does not come with a return guarantee, but it does come with a comfort guarantee - if the latex layers don't work out they will pick up the mattress and adjust the latex layers. It's designed to be a flippable mattress for increased durability.
The latex is blended Talalay from LI (Talatech) and the covering is cotton/bamboo. It does have a layer of the fire retardent material, so in that sense it is not one of the all natural/organic mattresses some prefer. All natural/organic isn't as important to me as all Talalay, and I wanted the blended Talalay...

I don't have the flobeds european slat foundation, but for a long time I used another type of Europena slat foundation with a completely different mattress set-up. Although it does have flexible beechwood slats, It's not the same design at all as flobeds so can't really be compared directly (I think the type of slat design I have are probably springier than flobeds. Anyway, ) I used it with a very firm thin piece of dunlap and wool pads, and liked it a lot. However, the bed was way too firm for my current needs. Ideally I would have liked to have kept using my European slats, but found it to be too springy with the 4-layer all natural talalay mattress (top layer being a thin piece of "egg-crate"). If I were using it with one less core and/or much firmer cores (I need a much softer...
100% natural vs. blend latex at Flobeds - delilah

Hi, I am considering buying a latex mattress from Flobeds I have been trying foam beds, but no thinking it is better to go with a latex bed I can customize.
My main first decision is whether to go with the 100% natural vs. blended latex. On a brief phone conversation, they seem to indicated no real performance differences. Almost like they were pushing the blend over the 100% natural. However, I would like other opinions if possible. The blended is cheaper, lighter and slightly thinner. All pluses for me. In concept, all natural sounds better. However, if no performance differences I would probably go with the blend.
What are the real performance differences? Your expert advise is appreciated!
Any thoughts on differences between Flobeds and Sleepez would be appreciated as well....
