shollis, you have a right to your opinion, as we do, ours. Your analogy of S brands to American cars is way off base. As far as I know, when you buy a car the company freely discloses what motor it has, and in fact all the major aspects of the car are disclosed, unlike the...

I'm sorry, but that statement is just silly. I'm not sure exactly what kind of logical flaw that statement is demonstrating, and I don't have time to look it up, but there is a reasoning flaw there, for sure. Saying "if you think S-brand mattresses are crap, then you must think American cars are crap, too" is ridiculous. It implies an association where there is none. It's like saying "If you don't like broccoli, you must hate tomatoes, too."
shollis13, I don't mean to pounce on you, but the comments I've seen of yours in 3 threads this morning make me wonder if you're affiliated with the mattress industry. If you...

Catlover: You might want to go to the "Dunlop versus Talalay" thread and read my last post.
The bed that I purchased from FloBeds is an all natural 100% botanically grown Talalay processed mattress.
I know what you mean about people trying to sell Dunlop over Talalay or Talalay over Dunlop depending on what it is that they are promoting. One thing I found out for sure, and I find quite interesting since I was of the opinion that Dunlop was more supportive than Talalay, is that that is not the case, as far as Talalay being supportive. I still cannot compare the two because I do not have a Dunlop bed.
Everybody is just so different. Even we ourselves will change, to some extent or another, from one night to another, depending upon what the day has been like.
For instance. If you had a...

I have read and read on this subject. It always turns out that the author of the piece you're reading is usually for the product he is selling.
It would be wonderful if we could all go to a show room that had several all Talalay mattress of 100% natural botanically grown latex, and several mattress of 100% natural botanically grown latex developed by the Dunlop process. And let me hasten to add, in various firmness levels.
Very few people have an opportunity to do this. In the end what happens is, you purchased one or the other and you either like it or you don't. Therefore you need to purchase from somebody who will take the mattress back, and we'll give you your money back, less return shipping. Not too many of the companies are willing to do this.

First nights sleep report.
The FloBeds mattress arrived yesterday the 28th in good shape.
Getting the mattress in place was a lot more difficult than I had been led to believe. First of all Pat and I had one hard time removing the old waterbed. I did not rent a pump, which I should have, and so it was a long time draining. Then unfortunately I stop the draining because I thought it had become partially plugged up with the old flotation material. This ended any future draining, which was too bad because there was about 10 or 15 gallons of water left in the waterbed. This amounts to something like 150 pounds of sloshing mush of waterbed for two old people to try and handle. So we worked ourselves to death just getting the old waterbed out of the bedroom. So we were wore out before we even...

Sleep EZ has a pretty good rep on this board, but you are right they do seem to prefer blended latex. It would be great if we could get truthful, in depth information from someone who really new what they were talking about (scientific perspective) regarding this subject of blended vs.100% natural latex.
Catlover: When you get your Savvy Rest mattress, report back and tell us what the cores look like, as well as your sensation regarding Dunlop as a sleeping surface.

I've been lucky enough to be able to try both a Dunlop and a Talalay bed. The Dunlop is firmer. But that doesn't mean that the Talalay lacks proper support if you get the right ILD. Talalay definitely has a bouncier, springier feel, and the latex is "airier," but I found it was quite supportive, too. I too thought at first I was going to go Dunlop, but once I tried Talalay there's no going back. So you may find yourself surprised :) or you may just confirm your opinion that you want a Dunlop latex. LI does say on their website that Dunlop is firmer than Talalay. They recommend using it as a mattress core.
Latex International asserts that a blended Talalay product is more durable than 100% natural. From their website:
"By definition, latex is a rubber particle suspended in water. There are 2 types of latex; natural rubber latex...

Serta makes a great Latex product. Their products are all Talalay process beds which is the best in the industry. They have beds that have a soy based core or a Talalay core. The talalay core is the one you want and would last you for a long time. Feel great about that and dont listen to all the S brand stuff. If you do then dont buy a car from anyone because that is saying Chevy and Ford, for example, make cars that arent worth a flip either. Good luck....
