If you print the specs on the beds you are considering, here, we can then more easily and knowledgeably comment on them.
If anyone has allergies they should be using an allergy mattress and box springs cover to protect...

electracat: I have heard the same thing. Both ways! If the seller is into Dunlop, then it is the best. If the seller is into Talalay, then it is the best. It seems impossible to get an unbiased opinion. And if they are principally into a blended product, of both natural and synthetic, then it is the best.
We are going to have to rely on those folks who have experience with their personal latex mattresses to have any opportunity to find out even a little of the truth. And in far too many cases we are all, more or less, ignorant of what our mattresses are actually made out of. We have to take the sellers word for what we've purchased. It's a shame,...

Jay: It would be wonderful if someone like "Consumer Reports" would get their head out of the sand and really do a scientific study on mattresses. They won't do it, they just don't want to spend the time and money. But I believe that's what it would take to really be able to answer a lot of the questions that people have about latex.
I have heard that both Dunlop and Talalay 100% natural latex are both wonderful products. Dunlop uses the older method of pure vulcanizeing of the latex and Talalay uses a more complicated process in an...

Jay: Possibly you need to look into http://www.habitatfutons.com/latex_mattress.html
They sell a six-inch Dunlop mattresses including the cover, for $1600 with free shipping for a California King. They have an excellent trial period of six months. If you don't like the mattress during that period of time you can return it for a full refund no questions asked. They also sell the same mattress with a 2 inch top layer of soft Talalay, and another mattress with the...

Jim: I appreciate your post. What is it about the blended Talalay that you like more, compared to the 100% natural Talalay?
I am quite curious because this is not the normal reaction that I have read on the Internet. I'm also quite interested because I just ordered today a 100% all natural organic Talalay mattress from FlowBeds. FlowBeds uses all LI Talalay both blended and 100% natural.
And by the way Jim, what percentage blend do you have? 60% synthetic/40% natural, etc.

Thank you SO much for starting this thread! And for the info on the Erfjord! I, too, went to IKEA just to get a feel for latex mattresses, and liked the firmness of the Erfjord. I know they post the blend of synthetic to natural latex on their site, but I couldn't find anything re: whether it was Dunlop or Talalay!
I've been flip-flopping like a fish out of water (and not just because my current mattress is killing my lower back now... hee!) about whether to just get the IKEA mattress, or to try to DIY. But I've been racking my brain trying to figure out what "kind" of latex (forgive me if I'm misusing terms...) - blended or 100% natural, and/or Talalay vs Dunlop, and/or mix layers, what ILDs, choose where to get them from, what to WRAP them in (most of the sites don't give you...

I am looking to get 3 mattress for my boys. my eldest is 13 and a side sleeper and seems to be constantly bothered by his allergies, he is also a slide sleeper. My other 2 are back sleepers and I would like to get them on new cleaner mattresses. All are currently sleeping on coil mattress 5-10 yrs old.
I am torn between a purchasing a 8" all natural mattress from Sleepez or a latex coil hybrid (the Unity) from The Natural Mattress store. Any thoughts regarding support or comfort between the 2 different mattress types and also thoughts regarding the stores themselves. thanks in advance....
