You might want to check Vivetique.  They have reasonably priced organic mattresses, but very firm.  McRoskey has no foam, but they do treat with boric acid and the batting is made of cotton and polyester.  You can get one made with cotton only with a a doctor's prescription  They are expensive and very firm!  I had a McRoskey and hated it.  Have tried Vivetique and Royalpedic at showrooms and found them to be brick hard....

I have no experience with any of the companies you mentioned, but a search on this forum will yield dozens of discussions about Sleepez, Flobeds and Savvy Rest. Considering the budget issue, you may also want to check into organic mattresses made by foamorder.com.  Their Natural Sense mattress is dunlop. I think they're less expensive than the others, but I'm not sure about their return policy. I don't think any of the companies match Flobeds return policy. Foamorder also has a clearance section with good prices. The web site is confusing, so I'd suggest you call them to discuss your needs. By the way, I have no connection to them, but spent alot of time researching their site before finally deciding to order from FBM because of my own budget issues. The web site is:  http://www.foamorder.com/organic-mattress.html...

Have you checked out foamorder.com? They have dunlop, natural talalay and blended talalay in different sizes and ILDs. They'll cut custom sizes and prices look pretty good. I'm not sure if they carry Latex Int'l....

Can I ask why no latex?
Plenty of places make organic cotton/wool mattress' but, I can only imagine that would be like sleeping on a futon....
Natural Mattres Search? Have you tried Hastens, Vi Spring, Nilsen, Lavital, Savoir, Royal Pedic? - olga

I have started researching a natural mattress  search a few weeks ago. Natural means to me NO FIRE RETARDANTS of any kind and no foam including latex.. I am absolutely determined to find something without foam or fire retardants.  It seems almost impossible unless you get into a 10 000 dollar range.   The only latex free/ FR free mattresses  I could find are the very expensive european brands. They are all spread out all over the country and I am  not able to fly everywhere to try them out. Can you please share with me your experiences with the above brands?...

Beanie: Thank you for responding.

I checked out foamorder.com as you suggested. Their prices are certainly the least...

As I told someone else who asked a similar question, I recommend flobeds because if you hate it you can return it for a refund minus shipping and it gives you the chance to try out various firmnesses of latex and/or memory foam.

Jim, thank you so much for responding, it had been several days since my initial post and the only response I had received was from myself, until your post.

I agree with you about FlowBeds. They seem to be a very nice family run business and one of the few companies with a return policy. I am waiting to receive some samples from them that Dewey has sent to me. I have some samples from Savvy Rest, and the fact that they do sell Dunlop interests me. The Dunlop just seems to be a more natural feeling latex as opposed to Talalay. It's a shame...
New poster needs advice on Latex mattress - not a DIY - KimberlyH

Hi all, new poster here.  I'm shopping for a new mattress, and after first considering the Tempur bed, I'm now worried about making such a large investment in a mattress that has such polarizing opinions about it.

I'm now thinking about trying a latex mattress.  I'm leery of buying a mattress I haven't tried out online, and I don't want a DIY mattress project, I want one I can try locally and buy ready made.

What seems to be available in my area is the Sealy Spring Free, the Sealy PurEmbrace (I don't understand the difference between these two lines) and the Healthy Back BackTex (which is a rebranded Spring Free as far as I can tell).  I tried the BackTex P5 (plush) in the Healthy Back store and loved it, though my husband said it was too "marshmallow-y" and he wouldn't buy it.

Another brand that seems to be locally available is...
