Re: Flobeds advice? - Lynn2006

I just tried to use the Google Spell check and lost my email that I just posted.

I love my FloBed but I feel that due to my petite size, the recommendations were too soft for me and should have asked me my preference for firm or soft beds. I had to add a blended Super Firm Latex core to the bottom of my split cores on each side of the bed to get the bed to the firmness that I desire. All of my other latex cores are natural Extra Firm latex cores. I had no problems with the blended latex core despite having allergies to chemicals so the Talalay Process really cleans the latex pieces well. I started off with much softer latex cores but then again, I always had a very firm bed with no topper all my life. I really love having that little bit of...

Re: Sleep Science Ara Foam Mattress at Costco - dkcs

So far it's great. Keep in mind that we did add a 3" latex topper to give the mattress a more "springy" feel.

It appears that latex is incorporated into the new Celeste mattress from Sleep Science.

The Celeste 14” mattress by Sleep Science is the perfect blend of body contouring, pressure relieving visco memory foam and therapeutic latex. This mattress has two inches of 5 lb Visco elastic memory foam as its top layer, which is supported by the next 2 inches of medium latex. The top two inches of Visco memory foam, offer a plush touch. The latex provides support with a slight bounce sensation.

I know this bed has a "bamboo" cloth cover-- Question: Does this serve as a mattress pad/cover? I'm thinking about the standard cotton mattress pad/cover you can get at Bed, Bath & Beyond. Is an additional mattress cover (cotton) a good idea for a) encouraging coolness, b) otherwise protecting the mattress? Thanks in advance:

I'm going to vote "no" on using an additional mattress cover/pad. The reason so many companies use bamboo covers on their memory foam mattresses is that the fabric is lightweight and highly breathable, yet very strong, allowing sufficient body heat to penetrate the bamboo fibers and warm the memory foam. Memory foam will not conform to your body contours if it isn't exposed to enough body heat and the mattress will more than likely feel too firm. You're going to miss out on the very reason people purchase memory...
2" All Natural Latex from Latex International at 22 ILD - mifronte
Jun 17, 2009 8:10 PM
I slept on a 2" latex topper (22 ILD) over a 6" core (30 ILD) for a year and damaged my lower back. I then upgraded the 6" core from 30 ILD to 39 ILD, but it did not help because of the 2" topper. I then put the 2" topper at the bottom and slept directly on the 39 ILD 6" core and my back started feeling better. Now I have pressure points on my shoulders and so may consider a 1" topper since the 2" appeared too thick and compromised the firm support. My latex is all natural from Latex International....

Re: platform bed - Marshall

Hello

can i start by asking why you are sure it is a platform bed you are looking for? you will be asking your mattress to do a lot more work if there is no added support from beneath it. i agree that a solid platform is better than a slat made from a cheap and thin wood but there are many other options that will give a far better combination.

the first and best choice (for your needs) would be a sprung slat system. this allows each person in the bed to have there own section of support that does not affect the other side, often available with variable tention movable slats so if you prefer the firmer feel you can move it to suit. these are normally made of several peices of beech wood glued together in a bridge or leaf style suspention, see pic in link below.

Where to try a latex foam mattress in the DC Area - Sleep_Deprived
Jun 19, 2009 7:35 PM
Hi all,

Does anyone know where to try a latex mattress in the DC area? I live in Virginia, so that would be even better. I tried a few at Healthy Back and liked them, but I was looking more for a SleepEZ type of thing where you can choose firmness of the bed rather than choosing from a selection of 3 pillow top cases over the same mattress. I'd really like to get a feel between whether I like blended Talalay or natural Dunlop better as well. Thanks in advance.

back pain caused by new mattress and latex, advice needed please! - sleeplessinpdx

Howdy. I just found this site and it appears as if many of you are versed in mattress comfort. I am 5'5" 128 pounds--a relatively fit and healthy person who has never had sleep problems until recently getting rid of an old mattress and boxspring (traditional boxspring, flippable--my boyfrend and I slept on this little full size thing for 10 years!--Unfortunately I don't know what kind of mattress it was--i.e. firmness, etc. although I know it was an S brand).
Anyhow we purchased a 100% natural latex mattress from a local bedmaker-Mulligan's Mattresses--he claims it was Dunlop (however, I saw some packaging in his store that was Talalay and when I questioned him he was vague--. We also purchased a platform frame from West Elm.
Anyhow, my spouse thought this new get-up was the most comfortable sleep he had ever had (queen sized, medium fimness with softer 2" topper).

Re: Sleepez vs flobeds: am I missing something? - ynyc

I don't know anything about Sleepez, but having just ordered a bed from Flobeds (after lots of research, thanks to so many folks on this forum), I do need to rave about their customer service. I'm a tough customer, and I've never seen anything like this. I now see why Dewey (the sales manager who is the owner's son) is a legend on these boards.. He spent a good amount of time with me and agreed to customize the bed to meet my specs (mattress zones, bed legs, etc.), going well above and beyond as though it were the most natural thing in the world. It's clear the customer comes first for them, and that's reassuring for a purchase as important as one's bed.

I'll try to post an update once I get the bed, as I've found it super helpful to hear folks' experiences after they've had their bed for...

Question Regarding Latex Mattress - Layers and ILD - ashishm02
Jul 14, 2009 12:52 PM
I am thinking of ordering a latex mattress for myself. I like what foamorder has to offer. Does anybody have any experience with them?

I am thinking of ordering a 9 inch all natural latex with a all natural cotton case. But, I am not sure if I should go with 3 layers of 3 inches each or 2 layers(core would be 6 inch). The 3 layers give you a better option of exchanging if needed, but are also a little less supportive then having one 6 inch layer.

I have a bad back, so I was thinking one of these two options:
Two 3' inch layers of Extra Firm(36 ILD) and one 3' inch layer of Medium(29 ILD).
One 3' inch layer of Extra Firm(36 ILD), One 3' inch layer of Firm(31 ILD) and one 3' inch layer of Medium(29...
