I love my FloBed but I feel that due to my petite size, the recommendations were too soft for me and should have asked me my preference for firm or soft beds. I had to add a blended Super Firm Latex core to the bottom of my split cores on each side of the bed to get the bed to the firmness that I desire. All of my other latex cores are natural Extra Firm latex cores. I had no problems with the blended latex core despite having allergies to chemicals so the Talalay Process really cleans the latex pieces well. I started off with much softer latex cores but then again, I always had a very firm bed with no topper all my life. I really love having that little bit of...

It appears that latex is incorporated into the new Celeste mattress from Sleep Science.
The Celeste 14” mattress by Sleep Science is the perfect blend of body contouring, pressure relieving visco memory foam and therapeutic latex. This mattress has two inches of 5 lb Visco elastic memory foam as its top layer, which is supported by the next 2 inches of medium latex. The top two inches of Visco memory foam, offer a plush touch. The latex provides support with a slight bounce sensation.

can i start by asking why you are sure it is a platform bed you are looking for? you will be asking your mattress to do a lot more work if there is no added support from beneath it. i agree that a solid platform is better than a slat made from a cheap and thin wood but there are many other options that will give a far better combination.
the first and best choice (for your needs) would be a sprung slat system. this allows each person in the bed to have there own section of support that does not affect the other side, often available with variable tention movable slats so if you prefer the firmer feel you can move it to suit. these are normally made of several peices of beech wood glued together in a bridge or leaf style suspention, see pic in link below.

Does anyone know where to try a latex mattress in the DC area? I live in Virginia, so that would be even better. I tried a few at Healthy Back and liked them, but I was looking more for a SleepEZ type of thing where you can choose firmness of the bed rather than choosing from a selection of 3 pillow top cases over the same mattress. I'd really like to get a feel between whether I like blended Talalay or natural Dunlop better as well. Thanks in advance.

Anyhow we purchased a 100% natural latex mattress from a local bedmaker-Mulligan's Mattresses--he claims it was Dunlop (however, I saw some packaging in his store that was Talalay and when I questioned him he was vague--. We also purchased a platform frame from West Elm.
Anyhow, my spouse thought this new get-up was the most comfortable sleep he had ever had (queen sized, medium fimness with softer 2" topper).

I'll try to post an update once I get the bed, as I've found it super helpful to hear folks' experiences after they've had their bed for...

I am thinking of ordering a 9 inch all natural latex with a all natural cotton case. But, I am not sure if I should go with 3 layers of 3 inches each or 2 layers(core would be 6 inch). The 3 layers give you a better option of exchanging if needed, but are also a little less supportive then having one 6 inch layer.
I have a bad back, so I was thinking one of these two options:
Two 3' inch layers of Extra Firm(36 ILD) and one 3' inch layer of Medium(29 ILD).
One 3' inch layer of Extra Firm(36 ILD), One 3' inch layer of Firm(31 ILD) and one 3' inch layer of Medium(29...
