Re: Latex Mattress Confusion! - Savvy Rest - Sleepez - Flobeds??? - Lynn2006

cmom04, I don't work for FloBeds but I was just very happy to have good customer service and the option of tweaking my bed to a comfort level for my back. I will try to answer all your questions in the next two days. I am so tired from trying to finish a deadline for work.  I just wanted to reply before going to bed. It is 1:25 AM in NJ and I can barely keep my eyes open. I have the pine slat box since this was the frame that was least expensive when I bought it. I went with all natural latex until I found out I needed two 44 ILD's of the blended latex to make my bed firmer. I was surprised that I was not bothered by out-gassing since I am bothered by man-made latex that is not the Talalay processing....

Split latex cores is best for just hardly any motion transfer (Maybe none but I am sure no bed has none if you are sharing a sheet and comforter... I am the lightest sleeper and I never feel my little dog moving around on her side of the bed so she does not wake me up like she did when I had a regular mattress) and the latex has them squish together so tightly that with a topper over it that is not split and a comfortable zippered mattress cover, you will not notice the split. Plus split cores are easier to move around, give more options for comfort adjustments and are what I have and I am happy.  I have three latex core layers and the topper over this under my mattress cover from FloBeds. I had to do many exchanges to get my bed just right so I...

This is what I have.(below link) Only I have LuraFlex coils with latex layers and one layer of high density firm PU foam as a base. I prefer the feel of springs and I like the fact that I can unzip my mattress and move around the latex layers as needed. Do you happen to live anywhere near this store?

Thanks Jankdc,

I didn't realize that a lot of the people's posts on this forum for products from Flobeds and Sleepez contained PU or synthetic latex ... with lower levels of natural latex than the IKEA bed.

Also, I have recently been back and like the feel, the quality and the price when compared to other options in the Toronto, ON.

I think I need to find a bed frame now that we are happy with and I will be ready to make a move.

Thanks....

Hi,

I am currently using a 10 year old Simmons Individual pocket coil and bought the IKEA Tolg and used it on top of the old mattress for 3 fabulous nights of sleep.

We had to return it as it was not a Eastern King size ... it was the wrong size and my store received quite a few shipments of it. My mattress has hammocked and it is time to replace it, so I have been out shopping, researching and reading posts and comparing.

For point of reference, I am 6'5" and 205 lbs and my wife is 5'4" 125 lbs.

I was into IKEA today .... their Erfjord is the greenest and cheapest latex mattress on the market for me in Toronto, ON for a Eastern King mattress.

I tried it with the Tolg and it was very comfortable on my back and side. In the store,...
IKEA Mattresses: Hasselback or Erfjord Does anyone have any experience with them? - Jazzsinger777

Hi All,

I have been flopping on all kinds of mattresses and thought I preferred the latex mattresses due to many of their qualities: mite free; natural etc...

After reading MANY posts from all of you, I have learned that some 100% (which is a marketing term) Natural latex were hammocking and tearing ... after minimal to a few years.

I read a post which mentioned a combination of natural and synthetic latex offered the most durability and one of the individuals quite liked the Erfjord Latex mattress which is 85% natural and 15% synthetic in a Dunlop style mold. It has eco friendly cotton cover with silk/wool wadding. When I sat on it, I bottomed out and hit the slats on the bottom. When I laid down on it, it was quite comfortable with a pillow top on it ... the Tolg.

Also, IKEA has a sale on right...

Hey,

It's amazing to me how different one person's experience with a mattress will be from another's. You mentioned bottoming out when you sat on the Erfjord mattress--when I looked at that same item at IKEA and sat on it, there was no chance of bottoming out. In fact, when I first sat on the mattress, I thought it might be too firm. But once I tried it for about 15 minutes I liked it. I tried it without a topper. That said, I decided to order a different latex mattress (naturabeds Milan) and will post a review once it arrives and I've had a few nights to see how it goes.

When I tried the Hasselback at IKEA, I found it to be remarkably soft and squishy. I was surprised as IKEA indicates that it is a firm mattress while the Erfjord is listed at medium. At least with the mattress...

Thanks Lynn - Do you work for FloBeds - because you are very persuasive for them! The one concern I had about the flow beds is that we currently have a Sleigh bed with wooden side rails that have 3 wooden cross beams and 1 center leg support. The guy at flobeds said I would need to add 2 more cross beams to be five total and maybe another center leg support in order to support their foundation and mattress properly. That probably wouldn't be hard to do - but one more thing to consider! We are just going to be getting a queen size bed to fit our current bed.  Not sure if anyone has any experience here if what we currently have would be enough support for a heavy latex bed. It supports our Tempurpedic foundation and mattress just fine, which I think are heavy, but not sure...

Hi - I am new to the forum and have read most posts and reviews out there on Latex Mattresses. It has been super helpful to me, but I am also now confused as well!!

My Back Story:
We recently bought a Tempurpedic Deluxe model. Felt comfy in the store - but I just haven't been able to get used to it and it feels like I am sleeping on a ROCK! (We have had it about 6/7 weeks now - so we are within our window to return it so it is going back!) My husband likes it, but would only rate it a comfort level of 7 (1 being worst and 10 being best) For the price paid, I would certainly hope it would be more comfortable than that for him! Plus he has been getting headaches everyday since we got the mattress, and I have had headaches on...
