Re: Neck pain from old pillow after sleeping on new latex mattress; TWO NEW QUESTIONS...HELP! - Lynn2006

I have slept on a latex pillow my whole life since the doctor told my mother when I was a baby that it was good for my allergies since I have had allergies all of my life. Two years ago when my latex pillow had to be replaced, I tried so many other pillows and could not sleep well on them. Finally I ordered natural latex pillows and they are what I sleep on. I have several in my home and I am also using them for my bed shams. I guess that is why there are so many types of pillows out there since we are all so different in our needs for comfort....

If you know the ILDs you can approximate almost anything. I say "approximate" because other things factor into how the mattress will ultimately feel. SleepEZ uses 3 cores in the 10000 of 2.8" each. Their ILDs run on the firm side of the spectrum. 24 for soft, 32 for medium, 38 for firm and 44 for extra firm. You can order any three you like. All the same or all different. With the 8500 you get two 2.8" cores of your choice and one soft 1.5" topper. The topper is always soft--you don't get to choose there. I tend to think these beds work best with two firmer under layers and one 1.5" soft layer rather than a 2.8" soft layer. Unless you are very heavy or really like to sink into your foam, 2.8" of soft latex is just too much soft latex and undermines support for most...

Actually your mattress doesn't seem all that hard to me--but firmness is subjective. My ILDs were 32/38/44.
My experience was that the MF didn't provide the same level of cushioning on the latex as it did on the extra firm innerspring mattress I originally bought it for. In fact it just didn't seem to provide any cushioning at all. What it did do however, was to hammock into the 3" top layer of latex and give me no support for my lower back at all.
My topper is 4lb. The extra density of the 5lb topper may give you more support and more cushioning. And your mattress is softer than mine was to begin with.
Let us know how you like it. ...

Let us know how it works out for you. I'm really curious as to how the MF will feel to you over the firm latex since it didn't work for me at all--and I'm a fan of memory foam toppers. Do you know what the ILDs are on the latex?...

But, they've caught on. They no longer do this with most of their electronics, such as TVs, computers, printers, etc. I was just there looking at their LCD flat panel TVs and picked up a little brochure. It's their new policy for returning these items. You have 90 days, BUT Costco also automatically extends the warranty another 2 years. I think this is fair. I don't think it's good practice to bring back an old television or computer or whatever on a forever basis. Nor a mattress, for that matter! Sheez. And, people wonder why the pricing goes up. Someone has to pay for it, just as you said. It takes all kinds, doesn't it? It's all about greed and basically, being dishonest. :(

you ask if Costco takes things back after 30 days? Are you kidding? Costco takes back their items FOREVER. I was in the return line taking something back one day, when someone wheels in a mattress and boxspring on a flatbed to return it. I immediately noticed that this mattress was a 2 sided/flippable mattress, and knowing that all the big manufacturers stopped making flippable mattresses around 2003, I thought I'd look on the law label to see when this bed was made. It was made in 2002!!!!
So, the person that brought this bed set back to return, had bought this bed at Costco in 2002!!! Slept on it for that long (6 years?) and after it was done with it's lifespan (because even back then, beds were made with cheap foam, and naturally were not going to last the 10 years in the warranty time table) was bringing the...

I am waiting on the arrival of my Natura Celebrity bed. I emailed them from their website to find out the ILD on the mattress, so I am sure you could do the same. They are quite prompt in repling. I also ordered the Ultimate Natura-pedic MF topper to give me the cush for my pressure points. I got the whole bed [mattress/foundation] for $1899 Canadian....

ok, I heard back from the company about the ILD on the mattress. bottom six inches 35, and top 2 inches 26-32. I am adding a 5ib 2 inch mattress topper with 18 oz of wool on top of it.
Does this sound like it will be to hard?...

refresh my memory as to why the memory foam over the latex didn't work for you. I can't remember what you said. I don't know what the ILD's are for the latex, just that it is a firmer bed. I will be sleeping on latex, wool, memory foam and wool then my sheets. Everything I've read about the memory foam makes me think it will be better for my FM as a topper, and I love the one I have....
Duplicating Natura Eco-Haven on the cheap...could use some help - amnesiacv2

After weeks of research and laying on various mattresses, I have found my favorite: Natura's "Eco-Haven."
The wool top is nice and cool, and it has a soft top layer (which my wife likes) but good underlying support without being overly firm.
However, it's $3600+ depending on who I ask. Way out of my budget.
I figure that I can basically "patch together" something similar using SleepEZ and using the savings to buy a Natura wool topper.
Questions:
1) Does anyone know the density of the Natura eco-haven base? Different sites have reported it's 6" of "firm" Talalay but a couple others report it as 28-32ILD which would make it medium.
2) The mattress is 6" solid latex with a 2" topper. Is this substantially different (From a feel standpoint) of 8" all together? (I.e. getting a 8500/10000 from Sleepez)
3) What's the best place to get a foundation? SleepEZ's aren't too expensive ($185 + shipping) especially...
