Kim, Thanks for letting us know that you did not like the Nautura latex contour pillow since I had thought about buying this pillow in the past but was afraid to try something out that could not be returned. I am disappointed that I bought two more Overstock natural latex pillows thinking they would be smaller and flatter than the nice ones I bought last year that I wish were 1/2" less heigh. I thought this based on so many reviewers saying the pillow was smaller and softer than last year's pillow they bought from Overstock. My two new pillows are no different than last year. They are comfortable and so far the best I can find for my comfort but are a tiny bit higher than I like. I miss my old latex pillows that were 100% natural and flatter that I had for years until they finally fell...

I did not realize FloBeds was having a sale on Go Green and their adjustable foundation was the same price as their fir foundation. I always prefer as much natural materials as I can in my sleeping environment so that is why I went green and then I had to make a decision to take two of my latex cores away (the 4 layer version I have since the 4th layer is a topper: one natural latex core on each side of my bed was exchanged ) and to add the 44 ILD blended latex core on each side to give me the firmness that my back requires. I have a slight scoliosis that I had all of my life and now with the car accident in August, I have 5 herniated disks and I think I finally readjusted my bed to work with my new back problems. I was so...

I do not feel well but it looks like I will not get much work done anyway so I will try to respond to this question and then make sure I am in bed early tonight.
I would not go with the adjustable foundation. I went with the split pine slat foundation with 10" legs and this is just fine. But at first the pine smell bothered me (did not bother my allergies but I just do not like any smell when I am sleeping but most new stuff has a smell at first ... even the natural latex cores I had to air out for a few days but then they never bothered me and never bothered my allergies) but after several days it went away and now I no longer smelled the pine smell.
The less latex core layers the firmer your surface will be since you will be closer to the slat foundation. ...

Since your husband and you prefer different comfort levels on your mattress, I suggest (when you find the space), you invest in an Eastern King size, only in the form of two Extra Long Twin mattresses and foundations. Put them in the same king frame. That way you can have your side as firm as you want and he can have his as plush and cushy as HE likes. This is how my husband and I have slept for the past 15+ years or so. And, yet to look at our bed you would think it was all one King mattress. We use King bedding which ties the bed together, but at the same time two XL Twins allow us to move independently, as well as choose our own comfort levels.
Best wishes to you!

Hi Sabra, I have the latex contour pillow from Natura and can't sleep on it. I tried a couple of times, and gave up on it. I find that two fairly flat down pillows are so much more comfortable (for me). It might be that it is so resilient it doesn't compress enough and also feels sort of bouncy which for my head, I can't deal with. It did feel better when I took it out of the cotton zippered cover it came in (which forces it to retain it's shape), but that still didn't feel great for my neck.
My boyfriend has a contoured memory foam pillow and I can sleep on the low side of that as it is much softer and more conforming. We got it a few years ago from Target for $20.00. He swears by it as he always woke up with a neck ache before...

Has anyone out there taken a knife to tallalay latex? I don't have an electric knife. Is it possible to slice a little thickness off and do a decent job with a standard sharp knife? I'd love to hear your stories.
Thanks Klm for the idea. Maybe I shoud buy your Natura pillow if I can't get mine flatter!
Lynn, could you possibly put a straight edge on top of your Overstock pillow and take a ruler and measure how many inches high it is? It would help to know if it might be a good option for me.

Has anyone slept on a latex contour pillow? How does it feel? - Sabra

Hello all,
I love this forum and I need help again. I have 2 latex pillows at home--a standard size which is too low for me and a queen size which is too high for my head and wake up daily with neck pain. I've recently tried the memory foam contour pillow and found even the softest one too hard. I tired the down alternative and found it too soft/squishy. I'm considering ordering a latex contour pillow from Natura but they are so expensive with no return policy. Does anyone have any experience with latex contour pillows? Which brands? Please comment on support and softness of whatever you have tried. I love my new mattress but I can't get up in the morning without moderate neck pain. Thanks in advance for your input.

As mentioned above, you could always get a latex mattress. These hold up far better than any other mattress out there, assuming you get quality latex. Some latex, in the cheaper ranges, use fillers like clay and sand to make their weight requirements and these will break down fairly quickly. I also don't like "100% natural" latex as it has a tendency to bio-degrade with the least amount of moisture.
I would also like to talk a moment about the expectations of mattresses in todays market. Most people are under the impression that the more they spend on a mattress, the better or more durable or higher quality it is. This is a false assumption! When speaking of queen size mattresses, you can begin around $500 for a set and get 8-10 years of comfortable use out of it. Stepping up in price will not get you a longer life! ...

Philly888, I am not sure which is better but Dave had sent me a topper that was Dunlap processed and it was too firm for a topper for me. I would think Dunlap as a base layer may be good from what I have been reading. I just wanted to tell you that I think the layers you chose sound like you will have firm support with a little bit of cushion with the medium on top. I like Talalay Latex only because I had that one bad experience with the Dunlap layer topper. But I have not slept on latex cores that were Dunlap processed so I can't be of help. Make sure you either buy the slat box or have a firm platform bed to put the latex on.
For my Mom's bed I would definitely buy a base, probably the SmartBase, since she currently has...

I have been web researching for weeks and I am trying to make the final decision on a latex mattress. This is a cold purchase for me and my husband, as we have been unsuccessful in finding a single latex mattress to try out in our town, even for a few minutes. I have spent countless hours researching online, reading reviews, scanning buyers guides, comparison shopping, nit-picking, etc. I even ordered a latex and wool sample from one of the websites that offers them for free. Yet every morning I wake up groaning in my awful, 17-year-old sagging bed and swear that today I am going to bite the bullet and choose a mattress. And then I end up here at 11 pm, not wanting to crawl into bed, but fearful of hitting the "confirm order" button on the checkout page.
My husband and I have decided to buy a latex mattress for support, durability, and allergies....
