I intend on purchasing either a featherbed or a memory foam topper anyhow. Still, I'm pretty excited!
You should try it without a topper first. You might like it that way....

haysdb, did I miss your review of your new 2" <20ILD layer?? Did you think it was softer than the FBM 20 or about the same? Did you like having the 1" 20ILD over the gel or under it?
The 2" of ILD 16-18 natural talalay from Sleep Warehouse feels exactly the same to me as the two 1" layers I have from FBM, one of which is supposed to be an ILD 20 and the other an ILD 32. To be honest, I don't know what I actually have, and I have no way to find out.
I'm happy with the current configuration (3" ILD 40 as a support layer, 3" ILD 20, then the Intelli-Gel overlay), but I still have two more to try. For tonight I have added the "spare" 1-inch layer on top, just under the fitted sheet. If that's too soft, I can...

Novahelp, before ordering my FloBed, I was sleeping on the floor on top of the 1" latex topper I bought from Overstock by the recommendations of my Decorating Site to try out latex. My platform bed with drawers underneath it that was 14 years old had collapsed (that goodness I was not sleeping on it) and the painter never returned my phone calls to put it back together since he moved it when he was painting. I needed a new mattress anyway and a real bedroom set so I let my client (who referred the painter) take it apart and I went shopping for a bed around President's Day in February. I was lied to by the Rockaway store that the sample Roosevelt Mattress had no Polyurethane Foam in it and was all natural latex. I was so sick the first night with the outgassing in my small enclosed bedroom...

Novahelp thanks for sharing. I hope you continue to be happy with your SleepEZ bed and your configuration you chose. It seems you like a firm bed also like I do.
My configuration (FloBeds) is similar but a little more firm than yours but with a 1.5" soft topper over a 44 ILD over a 36 ILD over a 36 ILD. I tried the medium firmness (32 ILD at FloBeds) and it was too soft for me but that was before I had a 44 ILD to put under it so maybe I would have loved your configuration also if I had no topper. But I still think I can not go softer than a 36 ILD in my configuration and I like having a little cushion near my pressure points I found out from my experiences these past several months of trial and error in getting my bed just right....

Now that I switched my topper from the 1" Overstock one to the 1.5" natural latex topper made by Latex International sent to me by FloBeds.com, I see it does have a little springy feel. I have the topper over a 44 ILD over two 36 ILD's on one side and over a 36 ILD over a >45 ILd over a 36 ILD on the other side of my bed. I do love my Latex Mattress a lot especially being able to see what it is made out of and the fact it has no chemicals in it.
Beergut, thanks for sharing your experience. Please do not leave us and keep us updated on how you love your latex mattress. I am glad things worked out well with your exerience with SleepEz. Thanks for sharing....

I agree.
Personally, I'd avoid memory foam. Many people must like it as they sell millions of toppers. but it didn't work for me....

I don't know if she's still looking but I wanted to chime in that I bought a Natural Response Tropical Breeze mattress about 5 yrs ago from Metro Mattress( I think , we don't live there anymore) in Syracuse and have been completely happy with it. No trouble at all except it weighs a freaking ton and moving it was a pita, lol. Otherwise no body impressions, sinking, sagging at all and it is supercomfy. I'm looking for a twin for my 7 yr old and tried to find this line local(Chicago area) but no luck. Anyway, I hope you have found a mattress that you like and if not, take a look at the Tropical Breeze. I think we paid $2400 for a queen set but again, it was 5 yrs ago so they may be more now....

I started reading this forum(it was the old forum then) about 5 years ago when I was looking for advice before buying our Natural Response Tropical Dream latex queen bed(which we still love and would buy again in a heartbeat) and have never seen anything that remotely looked like shilling for a particular brand. It's a great source for info about all brands and types of mattresses. Considering that the negative post about Sleepez is on an advertising blog for a guy who owns a mattress store or company, I'd say take it with a grain of salt....
