Talalay Vs. Dunlop Latex - Lynn2006
May 25, 2008 7:56 PM
From all my readings about Dunlap versus Talalay process methods and from my experience with that one Dunlap topper ( I have not experienced any Dunlap latex cores that may be great for bottom support), it seems that the Talalay Process cleans out the latex better and produces more consistent pin holes that produce more consistent ILD's throught the latex core and that the firmer Talalay Latex has a very long life. Latex International says that Talalay Latex lasts longer than Dunlap Latex but Latex International manufactures Talalay Latex.  :)

I have selected posts from various sites below to help others make the decision.

I am happy with the Talalay Latex cores I have from FloBeds that buys them from Latex International (but my topper is from Brylane Homes since I wanted a 1" topper that was soft made with the Talalay Processing.... Dave did sent me three toppers but they were...

I think you will be happy with the Talalay blended latex cores since I find I am not allergic to them and I am allergic to a lot of things in life.

I would ask Dewey if he can get you a powered bed since he and Dave may know places that have them or may be able to get you a good deal.

I was able to make the latex pieces as small as they came to me so the shipping was not a lot and at first I got return labels since Dave felt I should go softer than I had wanted to go and then he paid the postage to have me have the firmer latex layers that I was going to order initially before my phone call to him.  Most people not quite 5 feet and very petite like me like much softer beds that I do...

I did not realize FloBeds was having a sale on Go Green and their adjustable foundation was the same price as their fir foundation.  I always prefer as much natural materials as I can in my sleeping environment so that is why I went green and then I had to make a decision to take two of my latex cores away (the 4 layer version I have since the 4th layer is a topper: one natural latex core on each side of my bed was exchanged ) and to add the 44 ILD blended latex core on each side to give me the firmness that my back requires.  I have a slight scoliosis that I had all of my life and now with the car accident in August, I have 5 herniated disks and I think I finally readjusted my bed to work with my new back problems. I was so...
Re: Flobeds Posture Zone-on-Point - Talalay Latex Mattress - Philly888

It has been about 6 weeks now since I purchased a Flobeds Zone-on-Point Talalay latex mattress in Full/Std size for my mother. Time to report.

First, shipping. I ordered the mattress by telephone on a Saturday, and the mattress arrived Fedex about 9 days later on a Monday. So only 5 business days from CA to PA. Not bad at all. I was impressed by how fast my order was processed and shipped. The Full/Std mattress arrived in two boxes. Both were in excellent shape, well-taped, and had green stickers saying what was in each. The total shipping weight was about 85 lbs. One box was relatively light; one was heavy and I used a dolly to move it from living room to bedroom.

Second, unpacking. When I opened the first box, the first thing I lifted out looked like a very large latex pillow double-wrapped in thick plastic. Except it weighed about 12 lbs. Turns...

How about this statement I received:<BR><BR><BR>"Hello --<BR><BR>Natural latex and talalay latex are different compositions of various materials. Natural latex is 100% natural pure latex derived from the sap of South East Asian tropical rubber trees primarily grown in Sri Lanka. It is naturally hypoallergenic as well as dust mite and mold resistant. It is biodegradable and provides a pure green environmentally friendly sleeping surface.<BR><BR>Talalay latex actually refers to the Talalay process in which the natural latex is formed. Talalay latex uses certain chemical composites to form the foam which means that it is composed of a certain percentage of natural latex and a certain percentage of synthetic materials. The percentage of synthetic material contained in Talalay latex can be as high as 70%.<BR><BR>There is a demand for 100% natural latex because many people would prefer to sleep on a pure, non-synthetic, all natural sleep surface which is mold and allergy...

For what it's worth, wanted you all to know I received my samples from these guys.  nice big 12"x8"x2", both ild's, probably an 18ild, and 30 ild.  But they were labeled D75 for soft, and D85 for medium.  Look, feel exactly like Absolutecomfort.  Along with a Latexgreen brochure and business card with email fibex@tds.net

I would of ordered from them seeing their samples, if I hadn't already from sleeplikeabear.  But only got a 1", so still might order another 1" in the future.......

History: Thought these were talalay because their advertising is very similiar to Absolutecomfort and USmemoryfoam. i.e. Ergosoft, 4.75 lb, natural.  Never got a return email, saw Fibex at bottom of webpage, so googled "fibex and latex".  Called Fibex and talked with a nice and knowledgeable man.  He said he was dismayed that I didn't get a response and  he would look into it.  They get container loads in.  Said they do wholesale for Richard Pieris for mattress companies,  but are doing some retail too.  Quoted me $112 for a 24ild queen dunlop.  Said there's a 10% restocking fee.  They get it from Latex Green out of Sri Lanka.  He is sending me samples.  Figured I might as well reconsider dunlop since still waiting on samples of talalay.  I would order from them.  Is my sleeplessness making me gullible??  :))

If you are using any polyurathane foam get the hq. it is denser and you do need to weigh it  to make sure that you are getting what you paid for (search the forums).  You can get it cheaper at http://www.foamdistributing.com . They are the same company as foam by mail, but a month ago they were cheaper than foam by mail.  I recently placed an order with them and foambymail.com.  Everything went well. Get an electric knife to cut the foam, you'll want a different softness than your wife.   Check the thrift stores for the knives, if not Walgreens has them for about $10.  We found out that our bedsprings were shot also and we have our bed on the floor.  I am trying to decide between a regular slat foundation and a euroslat foundation (to give more support). Get some variety to change things up. Also keep the...

Hi,

I am currently using a 10 year old Simmons Individual pocket coil and bought the IKEA Tolg and used it on top of the old mattress for 3 fabulous nights of sleep.

We had to return it as it was not a Eastern King size ... it was the wrong size and my store received quite a few shipments of it. My mattress has hammocked and it is time to replace it, so I have been out shopping, researching and reading posts and comparing.

For point of reference, I am 6'5" and 205 lbs and my wife is 5'4" 125 lbs.

I was into IKEA today .... their Erfjord is the greenest and cheapest latex mattress on the market for me in Toronto, ON for a Eastern King mattress.

I tried it with the Tolg and it was very comfortable on my back and side. In the store,...

The HD36-HQ stuff ... is that pretty hard?

Have you read about "off gassing" and memory foam? My wife and i really like it until I stumbled upon a website that talked about all the side effects people were having with it. The site is www.chem-tox.com

I am quite interested in possibly ordering the foam for a mattress myself.

HD36-HQ is described as medium on thier website, but some people have reported that its rather medium-firm.

I glanced briefly at the website. Yes, the chemicals are a wee bit of concern to me, but not too much.
I would not get these mattresses for a baby though, they are much more sensitive, it all depends on the dose.

Here is a comment that was posted on some site
