Re: fire retardant chemicals - Lynn2006

I love my FloBed Organic Cotton/Wool Cover. It is soft, has a sturdy zipper (new one sent within the last 2 months), does not bother my allergies, and looks like a real mattress to me. I am so glad that it is also safe from fires in case it ever happens to me which I hope I never have a fire in my bedroom.  I like this mattress cover better than the first one sent to me in May 2007 that would have the zipper get caught on the latex. This new mattress cover (the one FloBed is now selling) is softer and has more give with the latex and a protecting flap that covers the latex before zippering up which is wonderful.  I love the 1.5" 100% natural Talalay Latex Topper with a flat top and bottom that was sent to me that I am using now over a...

It's a bold statement.  It's also b.s.  Natura has certified organic mattresses made in north america.  I'm sure there are plenty of others also.  If they want to lie, I wouldn't buy....
Re: IKEA Erfjord 85% Natural, 15% Synthetic Mattress - Reviews, Opinions? Or should I just go for a Simmons Beautyrest? - ericgl

I think dozing off would be a very good sign, congrats on the purchase.

I had to pick up a full foundation at a mattress store Sunday for a guest  bed I put together and I have to admit the factory made pillow tops looked inviting, but reports of hammocking within a year have me concerned for the unsuspecting consumer.  One young mother was was applying for credit to see what mattress she could buy.  I worried that it would last until she paid it off.

Anyway, you should enjoy your full latex mattress for a long time....

It seems like a nice deal for a 100% latex mattress, is there a way you can try it?  What is IKEA's return policy if in case you don't like it after a couple of days?

If you browse through the review section you will find many reporting premature failure of the S-brand mattresses.  Latex lasts a long time....

I received this from foamorder.com on their Diamond Quilted Mattress Covers:

Steve,

We can customize Diamond Quilted Mattress Covers in different thicknesses.  The thickness refers to the opening of the case that enclosed that mattresses.  For example, if you had a 6" foam mattress and enclosed it in a 6" covers then you would have an overall thickness of 8" due to the 2" pillow top.  You will appreciate the high-end luxury of this diamond quilted pillow top case. This case increases breathability and moisture wicking. It removes the "hot" sensation commonly caused by foam mattresses. They are constructed using extra loft fiberfill and 1" of premium natural resilient latex foam. They are warranted for 15 years not to flatten out or form body impressions. impressions. Compare this...

Alright - Got it in around 2:30. Came is a pretty nice "Bed in a Box" ... well, box. :) sealed, naturally.

The 11 inch thick mattress was only about 3-4 inches when rolled up, but quickly expanded once the vacuum was broken.

First impressions? I think it feels great so far. Sadly my word isn't too much of value as this is my first memory foam mattress, though I say it feels very similar to the Tempur ones i've very breifly tried in the mall. The goose down cover is also a nice touch thus far...

I won't know for sure though till I try it tonight ;) I've heard going from a normal to foam can be a rough transition for some. Anywho, i'm happy with it so far. I'll check back later tomorrow and report the first night. :P

Also, if there is anything I should be looking for in...

Batman,

If you're there, could you please provide another contact name and email address at Allied Aerofoam.  The email I sent to sthomas@alliedaerofoam.com bounced back to me.  I subsequently emailed Alan Rash but he hasn't replied.  I am awaiting a refund check that is owed to me from memoryfoam.com for products that I purchased and returned during the Creative Cushion Company era.  For those who don't know, Creative Cushion Company's parent company, SageRyder, filed for bankruptcy earlier this year.  Apparently there is a long line of people expecting refunds from any one of the various SageRyder subsidiaries or divisions.  It's a real shame that Allied Aerofoam would contract with a company like this just as it was about to go under.  Naturally, a voicemail I left for Grant Hill of SageRyder has gone unreturned.

For those in a similar situation as me, I thought you might find the following interesting --...

Well, after much consideration, I canceled the deposit with Sleep Country and bit the bullet -- I'm taking delivery of the Mattress on Saturday. IKEA has a 45 day -exchange- policy on the mattress, but no returns are accepted unfortunately.

I didn't mention in my earlier post, but I had spent a day testing out mattresses, and IKEA was my last stop. It was the only place that I think I actually really dozed off for a bit. I don't know if it was because I had grown tired lying around on different beds, or if it was the intelligible drone of people wandering about, or maybe it was just a nice comfy mattress.

Anyhow, I'm certain that I want a latex mattress, and for $500 less than the next nearest competitor, IKEA doesn't seem like such a bad first choice. We'll see.

I intend on purchasing either a featherbed or a...
IKEA Erfjord 85% Natural, 15% Synthetic Mattress - Reviews, Opinions? Or should I just go for a Simmons Beautyrest? - Kane

I've been trying to do some research about IKEA's apparently new Erfjord mattresses, and was wondering if anyone has heard anything about them. Typically, I prefer to stay away from IKEA for their furniture; however, I like their smaller items like cutlery, plates, and plastic boxes -- ie stuff that can't break due to particleboard material used.

From the little that I've managed to find, their beds are often quite low-budget, but I've still heard some fairly good things about them. For example, for their price, they're very comfortable.

Knowing that latex mattress are exceptionally long-lasting, I searched and found out about the Erfjord. For a queen, it's $999 and that buys what I believe is a Dunlop Mattress that's been shaped in some kind of moulding process to have "7 comfort zones". I'm thinking they just vary the size of the pinholes in the mattress to play with density. Still, not...
Anything similar to SleepEZ we can try? - valeriesouth
Dec 9, 2007 6:47 AM
DH and myself are very interested in the SleepEZ Select Sleep 10000, but DH is nervous about buying a mattress before we try it.  Is there another brand of latex mattress out there similar to the SleepEZ that we can try out in person?  We have tried the King Koil Natural Response line in the showroom and they did feel very comfortable, but I have read a lot of less-than-favorable reviews on them in the long-term.  We live near Astoria, OR.  Thank you ...
