Re: 3" Talatech 36 ILD topper source - haysdb

I know of only FoamByMail and FoamSource.
FS is Latex International latex, FBM has to be either Dunlopillo or Radium since they claim it is Talalay latex and there are only the three manufacturers.
Where did you find the $225 price? That would be a good price for LI Talatech, for either all natural or the blend....

mccldwll makes a good point, and in doing so highlights an issue people face when going all-natural, that being the most firm natural Talatech is a 40. If it comes in a bit lower, but still within the range of +/-2, you may not get the support you desire. The standard Talatech blend in an ILD 44 seems like a safer proposition. You can still go with the natural latex on top....

Thanks for heads up. My guess is that far from medium. Probably same as the Overstock ones--1" convoluted soft.. That said, I also bought 3 to play with. Even if convoluted, mating the surface somewhat restores to original form (IIR, memoryfoam.com used to have a 1" convoluted topper made from slicing up 28 ILD material. Also, if same as the Overstock stuff (which I also have) it's actually thicker than 1" so mated ends up over 2". Can't go wrong for the price. BTW, I assume it's the Natura from Canada (google it)....

Like he said! I would add that a stitch in time saves nince. Might want to get some spray adhesive (3M #77) for the tear. Personally (and I mean that since your mileage may vary) I would want above 40 for support layer (though natural talatach may not come higher). I find 36 (with maybe an inch of @20-28), to be a good comfort layer....

This is a very good question, and I'm glad you posed it. We have just ordered a Hastens mattress set, and Hastens states they use a natural salt water solution as their flame retardant. When we looked at Custom Comfort mattresses, a small company based in So. California, we saw a specific non flame fiber barrier built into the bed. However, I have no idea what this barrier contains! Personally, I am less worried about the chances of dying in a bed fire than inhaling what are likely toxic chemicals 8 hours a day....

I received this from foamorder.com on their Diamond Quilted Mattress Covers:
Subject: Re: Product information enquiry
Steve,
We can customize Diamond Quilted Mattress Covers in different thicknesses. The thickness refers to the opening of the case that enclosed that mattresses. For example, if you had a 6" foam mattress and enclosed it in a 6" covers then you would have an overall thickness of 8" due to the 2" pillow top. You will appreciate the high-end luxury of this diamond quilted pillow top case. This case increases breathability and moisture wicking. It removes the "hot" sensation commonly caused by foam mattresses. They are constructed using extra loft fiberfill and 1" of premium natural resilient latex foam. They are warranted for 15 years not to flatten out or form body impressions. impressions. Compare this with big brand names...

you were laying on naked 5.6" cores?
Yep! They were inside their respective original poly bag as shipped from LI.
Were both cores (or beds) 100% latex? LI latex?
Both were LI, as the vendor carries no other latex than LI. Appart from the lLD, the only difference is that one was Natural Talatech, and the other one was regular Talatech.
Were you able to see the labels that LI places on the ends of their cores which show the results of their testing?
Yes, the labels were in place. On each core, the 9 different results were pretty close to the marked average (i.e. low standard deviation).
When I'll finally get my core, I'll take a picture of that label !...

I'm a little worried too.
I was planing to buy one of Flobed's organic cotton/wool cover, which they claim is "NATURALLY Fire Resistant without chemicals". If it's organic, no fire retardant chemicals/additives can be used at all, or otherwise it's some pretty lame false advertising !!
I sent them an email regarding PeopleForCleanBeds.org's claim, and I will report when I get their reply....
Tiny specks of latex all over the topper... normal? - alibaba128

Hi all,
May be you remember my story from the old forum, I was planning to build my first latex mattress : one 6" 40-ILD core and a 2" 32-ILD topper, both Natural Talatech from Latex International.
So the vendor finally received both pieces. I went there to pickup, however LI had made a mistake and shipped a 36-ILD core instead. I still brought the 2" topper home, while the vendor contacted LI so that they could ship a 40-ILD core.
Once home, I noticed two things:
1- There are tiny specks of latex all over the topper. I put a dark blue sheet on top of the topper and when I lifted the sheet, it was literally covered with those tiny specks of latex! I wonder if this is normal. It's my first latex ever, so I have no idea. Given that LI got this "5 step washing process" which they advertise on their website, I wasn't...
