D3Fi - Wading through the latex info... (and avoiding a kit) - Lynn2006

D3Fi, I really think you and your wife would be comfortable with a 1" latex topper over three 44 ILD latex cores since I am comfortable now and sure about my 1" latex topper over a 36 ILD over a 44 ILD over a 36 ILD. This seems to be very comfortable and firm to me. I know my 5'8" friend now feels it is too firm and she likes firm beds. My other friend feels it is as firm as his very firm spring bed now and he likes firm beds. My other friend can't imagine how anyone can sleep on a bed as firm as mine but I am so comfortable. I am lucky to have friends that care and try out my bed and give me their opinion on it.

I really think you would like a 1" topper over the 44 ILD latex cores to have no...

I am very happy with just a 1" latex topper that is soft over a 36 ILD natural Latex core over a 44 ILD natural latex core over a 36 ILD natural latex core with the new cover Dave at FloBeds sent me to replace my old cover. The new cover seems to confirm to my body better. I love this combination since I have very firm good support but a little cushion. Of course, I am petite and only 4"10.75" tall and now a little over 100 lbs due to the death of my father and my car accident. I gained about 7 lbs but I am not worried since I know I will lose it as soon as my neck and arm are better and I can exercise again.

The latex topper is from Overstock but is is a little small for my Queen Bed so I am going to...
Sharing my new FloBed Latex Bed configuration - Lynn2006

Since I had some time yesterday to take out my latex cores to exchange the old cover for the new zippered up new bed cover Dave at FloBeds sent me, I thought I might as well move the 44 ILD in the middle of my two 36 ILD cores with my 1" topper on top. This was perfect! the new cover feels wonderful and I was ready for this new firmness combination. I never knew a 36 under a 44 ILD would give a nice feel until reading posts on this list. I thought having it on the bottom would be the best foundation. I had asked for a new cover a few months ago due to when it arrived, this was a rip in it around the zipper area and another part inside. He told me it rarely happens but as soon as I am was sure I was...

I wouldn't say inferior is the right word, but rather just different. A Flobed for example is just latex. Your mattrex is latex plus ... so the other components could be contributing to the motion transfer plus the fact that it's a single slab rather than split, as mentioned above.

We've got a Flobed w/ the split cores and at the moment 36ILD all natural on a slat platform bed. My wife moves around considerably in her sleep and I barely feel it at all, unlike our old S&F innerspring. ...

Compared to the Natura Dream Mate pillow this Rejuvenate looks expensive. The Dream Mate is surrounded in wool and a quilted cover. Check it out. I have a standard size and it is somewhat squishy like a feather pillow. But, yes, it also can feel lumpy at times. Just depends on how you manipulate it. Here's the link to it:

My Rejuvenite Harmony pillow arrived today. This is not a "review" as I haven't slept on it yet. These are just my "out of the box" impressions and observations.

This pillow is obviously designed for up-market retail sale as the display bag it comes in is a nice canvas zippered bag with nice rope handles. Definitely something to keep around with a pillow in it because it's just too nice to throw away.

The pillow itself does nothing to alter this initial impression of...

Nice design. It's a Lura-flex offset coil unit with a "pillow top" composed of six 3" thick blocks of Natural Talalay latex which can be arranged to provide firmer support in the middle third than the top and bottom.

Mattress prices start at $3800 for a king and go up to $7000. For that price you darn well better get the best quality stuff.

I do wonder why FloBeds doesn't offer something like this instead of their zone-on-point layer. It's possible that these folks have a patent on this design. I remember reading several patents that all had to do with various zoning techniques.

Edit: They have a lower-priced line that starts at $1800 for a king for an all-latex mattress, but the mattresses in this line aren't component mattresses, don't offer any configurability, and dont' offer the configurable pillow top.

http://www.norwalkmattress.com/LatexMattressespdf.pdf

Yes, trying the mattress on the floor is a good idea. It's probably the only way to eliminate whether it's the bed or not... The mattress we bought is 85% latex and 15% other foam - a little on the sides I think and also in the quilted top. I did see that the mattress from That Mattress Place had a lot less latex in them, which could explain some of the poor reviews. I don't quite see how this one could be inferior to other natural latex mattresses though....
Re: A bit off the subject- Down Comforters - ecd90651

tracman, you really need a nice white goose down comforter to go with your Hastens bed! I agree with everything Cloud9 said regarding down comforters, but I think I prefer the baffle box construction which contains the down better then one which doesn't.. I've had both types, and the first kind doesn't need as much fluffing and fussing. My first down comforter was purchased in Germany, where I went to a store and actually got to pick out the down I wanted them to put into the shell. There were so many types to choose from! They also have a process there where you can take your comforter back in to them, and they take the feathers out and clean them, and then blow them back into a new shell. You can keep your original down indefinitely, adding a little more as needed. I have not found that process here in the...
Steer me in the right direction *topper* - aimila21
Sep 26, 2007 9:52 PM
I recently bought a new mattress and it is too firm for me. I've had it for a month now and I'm waking up with back pain almost every day. The sales person said it just needed to be broken-in to, but judging by how firm it feels that may take quite a while. So I'd like to purchase a topper in the mean time. Preferably something natural since it will be so close to my body, so I'm leaning towards latex. Any suggestions towards a good brand and also a good price would be greatly appreciated! I have 2 herniated discs in my low back and recurrent shoulder pain. I'm a side sleeper so something nice and soft with that marshmallow feel is what I would like. Thanks =)...
Re: Hastens 2000T spring question - sleepetc

I own a company called Sleep etc., and I am the Hastens Dealer in CT. In fact, I am was the first Hastens dealer in the US, so I am well qualified to provide accurate information and comparisons.
To answer the question of "which firmness to buy", the answer is of course dependant of which firmness is comfortable to you, but I would put the most weight on the spring unit that is tensioned correctly to keep your spine aligned properly.

If you are lying on your side, your shoulders and hips should sink in, but you should not hammock into the bed. If you drew a line down your spine from between your shoulder blades down to your but, the line should be straight. On a mattress that is too hard, there will be a curve to your spine. If the mattress is too soft, you will...
