Well... of course. Sean was making a thoughtful recommendation, not offering a guarantee.
Based on the experimenting I've done so far, during the past 5 months, I suspect that he is right about my needing springs.
I'm not sure I can find a continuous-coil mattress with a decent coil count & wire gauge (& price); and even if I do find one to try out locally, I won't know if it's the coils or whatever padding is on top of the springs that's most responsible for how it feels.
It's possible that really well-constructed, heavy-gauge pocket coils would work -- something like the expensive GreenSleep...

Interesting. That letter is dated from 2007; it might be worthwhile to contact LI and find out if their terminology has changed since then (it's hard to tell from their website). My understanding is that Talatech is the trademarked name of their blended-latex product, in which case the phrase "Talatech natural latex" is a contradiction in terms and (obviously) a possible source of much confusion. If they're using "Talatech" to refer to both their blended...

I found another company called Foam Sweet Foam in Lake Forest (Orange Country) (800) 452-6114. They have all 100% Natural Latex as well and a showroom to lay on them. Sams has another 100% Latex and it's called American Sleep Organic Item # 190001 for $1,999. This is the absolute cheapest thing I can find anywhere for 100% Latex and I've put about 4 full days of research into this so far. If you find anything else, please let me know. On the Eco-Green one, the memory form part of it is Soy based 70% and then the rest is other. I talked to the manufacturer direct today.

I'm a 30-something with occasional lower back pain. I sleep well, alternating between side and back sleeping. I also heavily over-research all purchases over $200 - much to my detriment :)
Currently I have a firm traditional coil S-brand mattress on an Ikea Malm platform bed. I sleep well, although the slats on the Ikea bed suck. Can't stand it. Anyway, both have moved once too often and it's time to retire them.
So, now I am researching a new mattress and was thinking it might be good to try foam / latex to be a bit kinder to my hips when I sleep on the side. Have had a bit more aches there lately. I have been looking at some mattresses and really liked a firm Englander latex mattress I tried at a local store. Of course it was $1500. I'm...

I'd love to get some advice about what to look for in a latex mattress for my daughter. She's 2 years old, weighs maybe 25 pounds, and we're ready to transition out of the crib. We have a twin bed slatted bed frame already, so now it's just a question of what to put on top of that. I'm definitely keen on being as green as possible, but I do have a budget (who doesn't?) -- so now that I've recovered from sticker-shock (and after reading some of the more inspirational threads on here) I'm thinking that a more DIY approach is the way to go.
I’m particularly intrigued by this 3” topper on sale at the Arizona Mattress Company: http://www.mattresses.net/3-twin-natural-latex-mattress-pad.html (100% Dunlop, 25 ILD)
I just spoke with someone there and his suggestion was to use the topper by itself...
