Re: Replacing the pillow in the pillowtop of the mattress - mondc

The brand is an verlo embassy pillowtop. Full size.   I find I need to sleep on top of my comforter to make it feel softer after a couple of hours that is why I may change to this coil system or wait little longer.

Phoenix,

The ones we tried at Verlo were the harmony virtue - 5" Talalay 35 ILD core and 2 - 2 inch talalay ILD 19   price $1668  queen

The other was the harmony - 5" Talalay 35 ILD core and 3" talalay ILD 24  price $1538  queen.

Also the talalay is a blend and I was looking at more organic type products. I realize they are more expensive and I'll have to set a budget but would like to have a sound product.

Appreciate your insight. Looks like fall brings on some pretty good sales. So the search will continue and we need to try out some of the different lines out there.

Phoenix,

Thanks for the information. We will seek out various mattress types of ILD combinations and try them. Unfortunately there is nothing in our immediate area that carries what we are looking for. So we will have to search out stores. Verlo has has latex bed that is 5 inch 35 ild and 3 inch 24 ild and that felt just a little too firm. Their other mattress was a 5" latex blend on the core with 35 ild and 2 -2" in layers of Talalay ild 19 which seemed to be too soft. So I'm thinking we need something inbetween.

Re: Seeking advise - Natural talalay on springs/boxspring - Phoenix

My youngest daughter played university volleyball for 5 years and was on the Canadian championship team for her last 2 so I know a little about volleyball injuries (back, shoulder, ankles, knees at various different times). She had a few times when we thought her whole year may be threatened. I think a lot of people don't realize how "injury prone" high level volleyball can really be.

OK ... enough "bragging" (just couldn't resist :)). Back to mattresses.

I think whether your construction would work for you or not would depend partly on the type of springs you are working on. For a comfort layer this thick I would want them to be very firm. Simmons makes a "luxury firm" version which is softer and an extra firm version which is firmer.

Being a 60% stomach sleeper that is prone to back injuries, I...

I can't answer directly to the "re-using latex" question (I never asked him that and would suggest you ask him directly) although there is certainly a high margin in latex but I may be able to help a bit otherwise.

Ecosleep has several mattresses in it's line which all have latex in the top. Some have latex over acellaflex foam (a higher quality polyfoam) and 3 of the models are all latex. These are the Cassidy and Sundance (both with a 5" core and 2x2" on top with the difference being the cover) and the natural (which has a 6" core with 2" on top).

Goldes carries the natural and can probably get the other 2. They quoted me a price of $1439 in queen for all 3 but that might have been because I was referred to them by the factory as I don't...

I would also agree with the previous posts except to say that there are probably (at least) a dozen different outlets which are highly rated, reliable, can provide you with good advice, different levels of customization, and great value besides the few that were mentioned here. You won't go wrong with the two in particular that were mentioned and choosing between only two of course would simplify things but there are other options that may represent better value for your particular needs or preferences. Most of them have been "linked" in recent threads and I believe it would be well worth looking at and/or talking to a few more before you make a decision about what may be best for you. Make a list of what is important to you (things such as talalay or dunlop, the ability to customize a mattress before you buy it based on advice you...

Here are a few that might be worth either a phone call or a trip.

Haven't talked to these but they make restonic (all latex can be expensive if they carry these but good for test purposes) and their own according to their website

They also make their own but their website doesn't say anything about latex. Might be worth a call

I did talk to these people and they quoted me a price of 1399 for 6+2 = 9" latex. Probably worth a call and if they sound promising a visit

There's a little bit about Verlo here: http://www.whatsthebest-mattress.com/forum/plush-beds/15376-0-1.html

If you do a search on this forum there's a couple of threads with a bit more.

There's quite a bit more at the legacy forum here: http://legacy.whatsthebest-mattress.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl

When you do a search on the legacy forum, make sure you click on the search button and then also make sure you choose "all posts" instead of the default "week"

They seem to be fairly well regarded and will tell you exactly what is in their mattresses which is nice.

Verlo has a harmony line and one of them is 9" of latex (virtue) ... and another one has 6" of latex on top of 3" of acella-flex (triumph). They look very similar to some of the ecosleep models as well including the picture of the bed they are on http://www.ecosleepmattress.com/latex.html which in turn look very similar to the Gold Bond Ecotouch Latex http://www.goldbondmattress.com/specialty/index.php?category_id=4663. They are similar enough that they seem to be basically the same line. I know that the ecosleep and goldbond use 2x2" of latex on top of 5" and that the 2" layers are progressive. Was the verlo just 4" of the same ild?

Just curious as well, while the goldbond is more expensive, I called the ecosleep people when I was doing my research and while they normally don't sell direct to the public, they did put me in touch with...

Anybody know anything about this company? I was recommended to go to them to purchase a new mattress set, but know nothing about them except they can make a custom bed for you after going on their website.   Any other info would be great. Thanks.
