It is another contributing factor adding to estrogen overload. Milk, eggs, cheese, and meat that are treated with antibiotics/hormones is a major contributing factor. But that is another forum LOL.

I got my information from the same place you did. Soy is an estrogen feeder. Most of the world has problems with estrogen overload. I don't pretend to know more than you or less.
Good luck to you.

Leo,
Just wanted to reply to your first comment above...about requesting this info before. I apologize, I'm afraid I am the culprit and it was me that you asked the question of! I haven't been spending a lot of time on the forum lately as I have been very busy at work and apparently missed your question which I just noticed tonight as I was browsing through. If you still want to know what hip/shoulder pieces I have in place, I will check for you. I have been moving them around a bit but that's what I LOVE about the VZone...the fact that you can customize one part of your body but leave the others the way you prefer it perhaps!

What we have to remember when investigating mattresses is before we decide if a mattress is good or not, we have to be 100 percent educated on its innards. As for horsehair being such a cool idea for a really expensive mattress, I say bunk. Gimmick, people. I have horses, I have horsehair: mane, tail, body hair, and NONE if it is all that soft. The mane and tail is quite thick and dense and wirey. There have been saddle pads made with horsehair matted down, but they are not soft and forgiving. I believe that back when folks started to make beds they used what they had available in order to make something work....like we do today! The first ones were stuffed with straw. Some were stuffed with horsehair simply due to its availability. Horses shed twice a year, fall and spring. Fall's shedding is very light....lose their fine...

Greetings;
As Sager said, there is no concensus about what is the "best bed" out there, each has his or her own preferences. There is a ton of information on this site about beds, what's in them, why they fail, who did what and what individuals found to be the answer for them. I also invite you to spend the time to read through the site. It is time well spent, especially if you are on a budget and don't want to throw your money away. If you don't read anything else on this site, mark my words: it is very very very very easy to throw your money away on a mattress that won't last three months ESPECIALLY if you go with a soft mattress.
If you really want to just find a site that tells you what to buy, maybe try Consumers Report. They usually do that. However, one...

Yes, I would like to know more about the Vzone and what you ended up using and liking for the hip and shoulder. Also do you feel the velcro or the material underneath the latex ( I would knowing me).
Thanks.

I will have to go and check the VZone for you later (and I will!) but my husband is sleeping now, so I can't pull the bed apart without freaking him out!!
We are about to keep experimenting so as soon as I open up the cover again, I will check for you. But I have borrowed parts of his to test out different configs on mind. I know my hips are firm...I needed that support..but I believe...

Background (sorry, if you've already read it skip it):
60 yr old F, 5' 7", 128 lbs, side sleeper -- Fibromyalgia. Extreme pressure points in hips, (tingling, burning, numbness, pain). Currently sleeping on aTP Cloud Supreme... not really sure it's right for me. Still have 6 weeks before deciding to either exchange it for TP Rhapsody or get refund and start over. OR new option - try FloBeds and compare!
I had tried an Englander Natures Finest Latex and was in so much pain on it, I had quit the idea of latex altogether because of it (I never was able to find the exact content of that particular bed). I admit, at the time I made that decision, I was totally ignorant about different ILD's, thicknesses, customizing layers, coverings, latex actually helping with pressure points, etc.
That said, after reading all the reviews and threads here (you guys really are good!), checking...

Leo3, I have a hard time believing that the estrogen overload (which I agree is a growing problem) is due to the soy bean. It's more likely an outcome of synthetic hormones being injected into our food supply worldwide. ...

Dear DP,
When you can get a 4 month's used Hastens at 40% off it seems like a "no-brainer", and in a way it is.
The pure value of the bed is certainly worth it, and then some! There is one thing you may have overlooked though.
Is a firm tension bed right for you? My name is Peter and I have done EXTENSIVE research on beds / sleep surfaces versus quality of sleep. In all fairness I need to let you know that I specialize in Hastens beds, and I do sell them. However I am not trying to sell you a bed, just offering help.
Though a Hastens bed can be thought of as a "soft" bed the word soft is often confused with "support", which is another thing all together. A bed needs to be soft, but it needs...
Replacing the pillow in the pillowtop of the mattress - mondc
Aug 18, 2010 2:00 PM
My brand new pillowtop mattress I purchased from verlo has body impression of 1inch(not covered under warranty) where I sleep-this makes it very uncomfortable-Ive already used my free adjustment after 2 weeks to make this pillowtop softer because it was very hard when I received it and it was slightly dipping. They have now offered to adjust the mattress for a fee and replace the pillow of the pillowtop with an xpocket individually wrapped coil system. She tells me that it would offer more support and spring back and not cause body impressions- unlike the foam that is in there now. Is anyone familiar with these xpocket or pocket individually wrapped coils. Do they also eventually flatten or fail to support your body? ...
