Thanks for this

would you say it's firm or do you really sink in? I'd really like to know a detailed impression of the pink foam

thanks

Well, remember, most people put a velour cover right on the memory foam, so that gives the most "feel" and the most deformation and "sink" I would think.  Especially since the body heat would transmit directly to the memory foam.  However, I put a vinyl sheet, a heavy natural cotton cover, and a standard quilted mattress cover (goes on like a fitted sheet) and flannel fitted sheet, so this probably isolates me somewhat from the true "squishiness" of the memory foam.

That said, I think it is great.  My whole body makes a shallow dent in the foam, maybe an inch...

Thanks for your reply to my other post, Sandman.  Yeah, a real pain not finding a perfect stack.  Before going out and buying yet another mattress in a poke (at least at a far lower price then 2-3 years ago)... what is your current configuration?

After spending the afternoon in the Beutyrest Factory warehouse, I am reminded that they alll feel better than my home mattress... until I have slept on them one night or more!

Maybe a few more tries are in order.

I will reply also to the original poster with my experiences, but cannot look back in "reply" mode to address properly

I like it.  I am using it instead the Sensus and the mem-cool that I also own, so that says something right there.  Those are the only ones I have tried in 1" increments.   An older 2" that I got from Costco many years ago is probably as good.  Some other "cooler" 2.5" types seemed less supportive.

This one is not of the cool/more breathable variety (which tend to offer less support in my opinion).  So, if you are real heat sensitve that might be an issue.  I recently moved my bed and put the memory foam back on top of the stack, covered by 2 mattress pads (one wool filled).  So far heat has not been an issue, and I am heat sensitive.

Re: need recommendations for coil mattress for adjustable bases - Sall

I was told that you have to make sure that you should use either foam (latex or memory) or a coil mattress that is hinged to get it to work on an adjustable bed.  I know Original Mattress Factory has the hinged coil mattress and I'm assuming others do too.  Just make sure it is, or the mattress won't bend in the right places or enough to adjust to the bed.  We bought 2 twin XL adjustable but we also bought latex and not coil spring.  I would say that if you are planning to sleep on your back, you need a firmer mattress than sleeping on your side....

Any idea why PLB uses the 1" of base foam on the bottom? I'm looking to do a DIY PLB mattress and wonder why they add the 1" of base foam on the bottom.

for what its worth, the reason they originally gave is to facilitate moving the latex around in the factory, since the latex is harder to slide around and move.

1) That link was actually for organic latex. They call it "Natural Organic Latex Mattress Queen 13,000 Select Sleep" and it seems to be top of their line mattress. The price is pretty steep, but it's not all that much more expensive than TP memory foam. I'd put them in the same category pricewise.

2) Could it be that you felt the latex mattress you got (blended tallalay) was springy was because it was...well...blended? From what I read...blended latex may have this characteristic as oppose to organix (well, 97% organic) latex? The more it's blended with syntetic latex the more "springy" it gets from what I understand? I will check memory foam in TP mattresses out, but I'm not sure I'm crazy about...

Here's my take on memory foam - if it's the right stuff for you, I think it's just about the tops in terms of pressure relieving ability.

Since May, I've had 4 weeks on Stearns and Foster Innerspring, 4 weeks on iComfort Revolution memory foam and 3 weeks on SleepEZ all latex.

Stearns and Foster Innerspring (entry level model) was supportive for sure.  The comfort layers compacted somewhat and it lost some reiliency.  After 4 weeks, it wasn't that great to sleep on all night.  Not so pressure relieving. Was ok but that's it.

With iComfort, I noticed pressure relieving capabilites of memory foam are for real.  Mattress was just too plush for me, sunk in too much, so that ruined the deal.  As mentioned before, the matching box spring was junk and then discovered it has more memory foam piled in than advertised. ...

Tempurpedic - MinnesotaGirl

Hi folks...

I posted a question on this forum a few weeks ago & wanted to say "Thank You" to all of you who gave me really well thought-out, detailed, & helpful answers.

I've been searching off & on for a new mattress for more than a year.  I'm sleeping on an 11 yr old Sealy Posturepedic innerspring mattress (NOT a pillowtop)  that is soooooooooo dipped that it looks like a soup bowl.  I'm literally sleeping in a giant hole.  It's killing me.  So, that's it.  I have to get a mattress, any mattress, because anything would be better than this.

So, I would like to know >>  If price were NO object & someone offered to buy you ANY mattress you wanted, would you get a Tempurpedic, or not??  Because it seems like what holds a lot of people back from getting a Tempurpedic is the OUTRAGEOUSLY HIGH PRICE.

If you are looking for a good quality Latex mattress, you should look at the 2 offered by Original Mattress Factory.  They have a medium firmness one called "Latex Foam" for $1,749 for a King set.  Their "Latex Supreme" is soft & a King set sells for $2,299.  Like all Original Mattress Factory mattresses their Latex ones are also flippable, 2-sided, so they will last twice as long.

I was thinking of maybe getting their "Latex Foam" model because they say that the Talalay Latex is all natural from rubber trees & does not sleep hot like a Tempurpedic or other Memory Foam may.

I called three different Original Mattress Factories in the Atlanta area and they all told me that the latex...

Natural talalay topper thoughts... - tlgtrs

I am looking for opinions because I have never purchased any latex bedding before. (I have read through many of the forum posts and many of you have experiance with latex bedding and are so knowledgeable) I have decided that I want to purchase a natural Talalay latex topper but am unsure as to the firmness and the thickness we need. We will be putting it over our Original Mattress Factory pillow top mattress that is about 4 years old and the pillowtop has lost it's comfort. I originally thought my back problems stemmed from my pregnancy with my 9lb. 13oz. baby. But, it has been a year and a half and I am still having some lower back soreness when I get up in the mornings. Also, my husband has an auto immune disorder which causes sore and achy joints. Obviously, I understand that a mattress topper won't fix his joint problems, I am just looking to make him as comfortable as he can be. The...
