Budgy thanks for all the helpful posts.

Some questions from me.

1 Which latex lasts longer and which one does not sag?

Synthetic talalay or Natural talalay?

2. what is the softest dunlop latex? who is making it?

3. For me I am having low back pains.

Should I be choosing synthetic talalay or natural talalay

or dunlop latex?

Thank you budgy

Please do keep in mind that I can only answer these questions based on my own and my customers varied experiences.

1. Natural rubber is more elastic than SBR (styrene butadiene rubber). In theory,...

Thank you jd. So blened is lasts longer. There was some thread here in which this discussion was done. Some people said natural talalay lasts longer. Well I am just learning more and more I learn the more confusing it gets in some aspects!

Jd did you try both the natural and blened mattress at the store? and you liked the blended more. what sold you out on blended compared to the natural talalay?

Thanks jd. Hope verything works out for you and your mattress lasts long time.

CSD does not push the natural talalay, since it is deemed too expensive by most buyers. While they don't have it in the showroom, they will make your...

Well, I decided to visit my "local" (as in long drive) Savvy Rest dealer to try out the latex mattresses.

I talked to them for a while on the phone about the mattresses and how I was still hesitant about latex as the raw cores from Savvy made my nose burn, but I was hoping all wrapped up they would be ok as they seem like they would be comfortable. They talked about how there's a layer of wool plus the cotton fabric and how the latex is washed and I wouldn't ever have contact with the latex and so absolutely come on over and test it out.

Well, I went there and turns out there were raw cores draped just about everywhere! So much for testing what things would be like with wrapped-up latex. Good thing I don't have a life-threatening allergy or I would...

You can probably get an inexpensive cover for the wooden frame. Take a look at the DIY with pictures thread. Perhaps someone here has ordered from both SleepEZ and FBM and can make some comments on the latex. Only you can decide if you want the brand X latex or a brand name latex. I have not read anything on this forum that would indicate which one is better or which will last longer. The recent purchased of FBM seem to be happy with their pieces of latex: not ripped, dirty, stinky, etc. APM Dunlop latex seems to be made by Latex Green, which is one of the major sellers. APM has a 30 day money back guarantee. I think I read that someone had called them and they offered to put together a custom mattress.

Also, I am not sure that Talalay is more durable than...

I visited that store in Palo Alto. The salesman didn't get up to help me and when I asked if they had all latex mattresses, he muttered about those mattresses there they have prices. I found no description of what the mattresses were other than "firm", some with prices. Even after I started trying them out and poking at the covered, he didn't bother to help me. I walked out. There are other stores in that area that sell latex mattresses (these are the ones I visisted and there are probably more in SF but I hate trying to park in SF and public transpo is too slow and I didn't look closely in East Bay as I live in South Bay). Reclaim Home in Menlo Park has Savvy Rest and you can try all the combinations. Earthsake in Berkeley has latex mattresses (all organic) prices weren't too bad and...

I tried an eco-friendly foam mattress and it didn't feel like a tempurpedic. I didn't sink in and feel like I was sleeping in sand. I hope you have tried this bed. A quick google search found no reviews by humans. Perhaps yelp has some comments on relax the back stores. What is the warranty? There are other companies that make soy foam mattresses that I believe are cheaper then Tempur. There are also tempur-like mattresses. Whate exactly are you looking for? Are you looking for a green mattress or just inexpensive memory foam?

Sorry, I have no experience with that bed....

Pure Rest Mattress - Tom1

My wife and I are going to try the Pure Rest Mattresses out this coming Thursday (showroom in San Diego). They seem to be similar to the SleepEz and FloBeds with a layered approach. From a phone conversation with them I found they utilize natural Dunlop latex from Latex Green Sri Lanka.

Has anyone had any experiences with this company? Any feedback would be appreciated.

Many thanks!

Just wanted to report here what I found out when I talked with LatexMattressShop today. I spoke with a guy who was very helpful and seemed very knoweldgeable as well.

On the 6" core, they build these with either 38 or 32 ILD natural Dunlop.

The next 2" is customized to the purchaser based on their prefernces and can be Talalay or Dunlop. The Talalay is Talatech from LI (their blended Talalay product) and can be chosen in 19, 24 or 28 ILD's. If you go with a 28 ILD that could also be chosen as Dunlop. He basically admitted that the 7 zone sleep system is more marketing than anything. There is a 7 zone topper out there made from Dunlop by Latexco (http://store.mattresses.net/3-inch-latex-mattress-topper.html ), so I'm thinking if you go with Dunlop you might get this type layer. I did not confirm that...

What would you do? Having big problems with Sleepys - m123

I'm going to sum this up because the full typed out saga is 2.5 pages long.

We bought a Sleep to Live 600 from Sleepys. The first mattress they delivered was defective and they replaced it. The second one was nothing like the floor model and the mattress sloped from the blue side to the green side. They tell us our only option is to do a comfort exchange but we get them to waive the fees. We do a comfort exchange and get a Pure Latex Bliss Nature. The PLB was delivered today. The delivery guys got big dirt smudges on the mattress on the side that ever so conveniently was placed incorrectly up against the headboard. I say incorrectly because the mattress was not oriented correctly and we can to rotate it 90 degerees.

After the delivery guys leave, I notice a bug. I...

From what I've been able to determine FBM sources their latex from "Europe" and will not give a more specific answer than that.

I looked at the sleepez one, but that would be $300-400 more than FBM, I'm wondering if it's worth the extra money, or if they're pretty much the same and I'm just paying for a brand name/green manufacturing/whatever. Or am I forgetting anything in my cost calculation for FBM? I have the included cover (terrycloth), 6" foam, 2" foam. Do I need to add a mattress pad/fire retardant/anything that'd bring the prices closer?

Thanks for the suggestion on the nomad bed frame...I'll have to think about getting it and staining it a darker color (so it doesn't look quite so unfinished)...
