Anyways, I stopped in and I think found the perfect mattress. It was quite firm but the salesman said that that is the most firm build that they made for the showroom and he could make it a bit softer by adding a layer of latex. Does anyone have any experience with this brand? The factory is locate (made in wisconsin) and it seems to be a factory direct store. The prices are pretty reasonable as well.
Thanks,
Gene....

My wife and I were at Sears yesterday and after trying many different mattresses she really liked this one. It is the Serta Perfect Sleeper Reese Eurotop (Elite collection). We also went to Colders and I really liked the Serta Vera Wang with the eurotop.
These are around the same price range but I don't really understand how they rate. The Reese also comes with a 20 year warranty were the Vera is only 10.... I think... Maybe.
Oh well, if anyone can suggest which one of these is the better bang for your buck that would be great. I was also wondering what the thoughts out there are about the W hotel heavenly bed? This is another option however I don't know where to find a place to actually try it out.
Thanks in advance,
Gene.

My bride and I had terrible innerspring mattress experiences and switched to waterbed mattresses about 22 years ago (still love 'em!) but my commercial sounding waterbed mattress posts can be found all over this forum so I won't repeat unless you ask me to why we believe the waterbed mattress is a great alternative to other mattress types.
Online statistics seem to show that only about 60% of innerspring mattress owners are happy with their mattresses which means that close the 1/2 are NOT happy. YIKES - before we bought our latest waterbed mattress a few months ago we spent about four months visiting all the area stores and testing every mattress we could find - spring, memory...

So you try one topper and if it doesn't give you the comfort you need then you have to try something else. It's a shame that only inflatable mattresses and waterbed mattresses come with firmness adjustability built in.
We know someone who bought a four inch Serta memory foam topper and loved it. We bought a three inch Cloud9 semi-firm memory foam topper and combined with our waterbed mattress it is perfect for both...

"A full-size mattress should have at least 300 coils, a
queen size should have about 400 coils, and a king size
should have about 480 coils.
If you find an innerspring mattress with a coil count
below 300 for a full-sized mattress, it is generally of poor
quality. On the other hand, you can get too many coils in an
innerspring mattress. When the number of coils is increased,
the size and thickness of coils are decreased, thus reducing
firm support. Extra coils, however, do not necessarily
enhance the longevity or performance of a mattress. It is the
design of the coils and their arrangement that is more important."
We also learned that the gauge should be no thinner than 13 and the number of turns...

Our research seemed to show that firm mattresses are not necessarily good for someone with back issues or back pain.
My bride has developed multiple and degenerative/permanent back problems and we discovered that - for us - best and most reliable comfort to be found in a waterbed (Sam's sells a decent waterbed mattress but only online).
We believe that newer model mattresses with their 13 to 14 guage wire coils are going to show sag in just a few years and spring and foam mattress prices are not to be believed.
Unless you have sharp clawed cats that prowl on your bed or sleep with sharp objects modern waterbed mattresses are well engineered and well made. We have had two mattresses in over 22 years with total costs of just $550.00. Our current one is 8...

The Perfect Sleeper is the base model for Serta. The Perfect Day is the high end group - Vera Wang, best we can tell, relates more to cosmetic things like fancy fabrics and etc. but nothing to do with the foundation makeup. Perfect Sleepers have 10 yr warranty while Perfect Day have 20 Yr warranty - Perfect Sleepers Kings have 632 coils (Vera Wang or Not) while Perfect Day Kings have like 1,173 coils.
We thought we wanted to try a new mattress and did so much research and found we keep going round and round the same circles of bad or incomplete information. Fact is, 40% of owners of ALL makes of inner-spring mattresses are not happy with their purchase and don't like...
