Re: would anyone mind helping me evaluate the content of this mattress (Sealy Springfree latex) - Sabra

Hi LPAD,

I did just what you have thought about doing. Over the weekend I purchased the Sealy/S&F mattress that you supplied contents of (the 2nd time): the Saybrook Point/River Crest/Meadow Crest/ Bedford Knoll. I slept on it last night and it was wonderful. I have had lower back, hip and neck pain and only woke up with neck pain due to a pillow thats too firm.

I plan to do what Jimsocial did and disassemble it if and when the top PU foam and convoluted latex wears out. It will still have a 9 inch latex core that is supposed to last for 20 years. The latex box top mattress that I just turned back into Costco was indeed too plush, but this one feels just right, at least for now.

I did get a big blessing because I found it on Craigs List for $750--original price $3150 at Bassett. It is only...

Build-a-bed... - utcarsons

After reading at length here about the various options, I think we have decided to "build-a-bed"  If only it were that easy <sigh>.  Currently on a 7 yo Bassett pillowtop (Sealy?) that is sagging and oddly leaning to the right?!  In any case, I believe it to be a major contributor to my low back pain/sciatica.  Ive had problems on and off since an injury about 9 years ago.  I wake up basically crippled and unable to walk.  After several hours of "moving" I feel just fine...  Starts over next morning.  The only time I actually have the pain at this point is when I am lying in the bed.  Once Im up, its just a matter of getting myself to walk "straight" again.  Enough of that...

Stats:  me:  5'6', 140 lbs, female, side sleeper, low back pain.   Spouse:  6'0', thin (170?), side back and stomach sleeper.  Both of us seem...

Just stopping by and I see that my old post from last year has been revived. No, I did not purchase a Restava bed, we ended up buying an Englander memory foam bed. I have honestly hated this bed since then, it was way too firm and has remained so. In the interim over the past year+ we have purchased a softer 2-1/2-inch memory foam topper and I have also added a featherbed from The Company Store, really all to no avail. This bed may be just fine for those who like a pretty firm bed, but it's not for me. Anyway I just placed an order for a Saatva mattress today because I really don't want any more 100% foam mattresses at the moment, whether memory or latex. So if anyone is interested, I will post my thoughts on it when it arrives.

On a humorous note,...

Unfortuneatley for my backand neck , laytex and memoryfoam have been the only way to go.   I had  a Englander laytex about 10yrs ago, it lasted 2yrs and got body impressions, Then a Restonic plush laytex which went 5yrs and got body impressions,  now have a firm memory foam generic that I am putting on  a topper and having to change every couple of years.  I went thru about 8 different spring mattresses in a 6 yr period before trying laytex, and yes that was expensive.  So far laytex have been the most comfortable for me, I am a back and side sleeper, the mattress can't be firm as when I sleep on my side a firm mattress shoves my should in and I get neck pains.  I read that to get a firm mattress and add toppers is the way to go and I have to agree.  I'm around...
