Re: Is Green Sleep Dolcezza and custom dowel foundation really worth the money? - crock

I am not exactly sure what creates "pushback". My own theory, completely lacking in any actual experimental data, is that foam produces a force in all directions when compressed. A spring only provides force in one direction. When you sleep on foam it not only pushes your skin directly up, it also presses inwards. This is a horizontal force that does not exist with a spring. The inward force given with foam produces a different feel against the skin and makes it more difficult to move around on the bed.

If you visit a true "sleep specialist" they will probably describe proper alignment as:

1. Side Sleeper - Shoulders vertical, hips vertical, and spine horizontal. In practice you should really expect a slight tilt of the upper pelvis towards the head, so the torso is slightly dipping. A perfectly horizontal spine will often...

Hey Crock, can you say anything more about "pushback"? You seem knowledgable about mattresses and I'm trying to avoid making a mistake, so I appreciate any other comments you have. When I read your message it sounds like putting the Dolcezza on slat may create better body alignment, but not feel quite as good. Is that right? And is there any way to determine if one's alignment on a bed is good or not? Thanks for your input, best I've had so far.

Without dismissing the pushback observation, I'll suggest that flexible slats... or slats placed for their different firmness in particular zones... may be intended to vary the firmness in those particular zones (targeted sag) to improve the force contouring such that you body shape rests in the Latex with your body weight/forces balanced so that your body profile is most at...

Jakeeagle,

Not sure where you are but you may want to see if there is a SuiteSleep retailer in your area you can try out. The Vesta is a European Style sleep system like the Dolcezza. Well worth the time to compare. The thickness in the cover will definately seperate either from the Savvy so if you are back at a Savvy Dealer spend some time and try the Serenity 10in with a woll topper. Again will not be exact at the Greensleep but will make a big differance. Best of luck you are looking at some great products.

Thanks for rthe suggestion. I can not afford to play the trial and error game. I could get a Mattress Pad like this: Extra Plush Bamboo Fitted Mattress Topper -Queen Pad found here: http://www.amazon.com/Extra-Bamboo-Fitted-Mattress-Topper/dp/B008URGSWO/ref=sr_1_14?s=bedbath&ie=UTF8&qid=1443527201&sr=1-14&keywords=mattress+pad

Or go to a 2" Dunlop Topper like this: Pure Green 100% Natural Latex Mattress Topper - Soft - 2" Queen Size:

http://www.amazon.com/Green-Natural-Latex-Mattress-Topper/dp/B00UYG8F7U/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1443526710&sr=8-2&keywords=2%22+latex+topper

The issues with ,my back are more important that with my shoulder. I can not sleep on my back, but just laying on my new bed and memory foam for 20 minutes or so hurts my back.

Jostarr.  It is unlikely that your new memory foam topper is sagging.  It might be that it is of very low density and is providing no support.  Since you...

THe foundation will definitely make a difference, the problem is whether it makes it better or worse for you. The flexible foundations help get rid of some of the "pushback" latex is known for. The mattress will give more support on plain slats. More support will raise your hips slightly relative to the rest of your body and this will affect your spinal alignment. You can try purchasing the mattress without the foundation and just put the mattress on the floor. You won't get the ventilation benefits of a slat foundation, but the bed should have the same support and firmness. If you like the mattress on the floor, it will be good with a plain slat foundation. If you don't like it, then you know to get the GreenSleep foundation. WIth all that said, I will bet you prefer the mattress with the...

So I spent more hours researching how to make a very hard mattress base. I can’t find any other choices out there. I checked on many web sites, that Dunlop Latex should be mildew resistant. We could put a rubber mat under the mattress as you isleomaniac. Thank you for the tips.

Where did you get the hard gym mat? I tried to find it on the web w/o success of finding 38x80 inch large solid piece. Does it smell when new? Please, what is the Hard campers pad?

We compared the hardiness of the Hard Dunlop Latex example from the SavvyRest with our green poly foam purchased at the Jo-Ann Fabric. The poly foam is definitely harder than the Hard Dunlop example. My hubby swears this covered green poly foam is the best thing to relieve his back pain (all his...

Any feedback on this mattress from costco?  Seems like a good deal and seems like latex is the way to go BUT reviews on costco website are mixed.   Looking to replace my 10 yr old Sealy innerspring.  Thanks in advance!!!

The Spring Air latex mattress is constructed of 4 layers of eco-friendly latex and foam. This unique combination of foams creates a truly unique and versatile mattress. Made from the rubber tree, latex is the most naturally durable and comfortable cushioning material that nature has to offer. This luxurious and eco-friendly mattress is the perfect mattress for those that want a superior mattress that is comfortable,...

And then there were three (latex manufacturers that is) - charnlar

After doing research both throughout this forum and outside, I have come to focus on three manufacturers ( in each case, I am looking at an all natural latex king size mattress, all approximately 12" in depth):

FloBed - Organic Natural vZone ($300 upcharge from the Organic Natural Deluxe)- 2 cores/vZone core/convoluted topper/cover

Dremata (aka Green Mattress Factory) - Symphony (no upcharge for its 5zone layer) - 4 rearrangeable 3" latex layers one of which can be it's zoned layer

PlushBeds - Botanical Bliss - 6" core layer, a 3" layer and a 2" layer plus a one inch layer of wool in the mattress cover.

In choosing these three brands and models, I attempted to set the stage allowing an "apples to apples" comparison.  Also, there is no one within a 100 mile radius of my location selling...

Hope this is not too late for you.  My husband and I have been sleeping on the Green Mattress Factory a.k.a. Dremata 10" organic mattress for 2 years and it has deep indentions where we sleep.  So much for 25 year warranty. The warranty doesn't cover this, of course.  If you read the warranty, it really covers nothing that could realistically occur except perhaps, spontaneous combustion.  Good luck proving that.  If you send it back for them to inspect it, you pay all shipping costs.  It is a huge leap of faith to buy these mattresses because no one has reviewed them that have had one any real length of time.  We took an expensive gamble that has not paid off.  Be careful spending thousands on a mattress you can't test.

Thank you Good_Sleep. Plushbeds has a free 100 day return policy and from the reviews, it looks like it is very easy to return if needed. If you are not happy, you have 100 days to return the mattress and you receive a full refund. They pick the mattress up from you and they pay for round trip shipping. I figured I had nothing to lose so I took the plunge and ordered the 10" Botanical Bliss yesterday. It looks like a great mattress. Organic with all certifications - gols; gots; oeko-tex; greenguard gold. I'll let everyone know how I like it. Thanks for the advice....
