Ocdutch.  What kind of back issues do you and your wife have?  What was wrong with how the S&F mattresses you tried?  Too hard, too soft?  Mattdud

Getting completely lost...... Have "tried" two Foster & Stearns mattresses at home but did not like either..... Now my wife and I (both with back issues and side sleepers) are looking into Tempurpedic mattresses (I do not want to start a discussion regarding all the other brands out there). I have read more reviews than I probably should have (only drives you crazy), but have not found much about the Cloud Elite model, the model that we actually liked best in the stores we have been to (yes, I also know that a mattress will feel different once you get the same model home). Any experience with the Cloud Elite out there?...

Hello all! I am glad I found this place before making my next mattress purchase. There's a ton of knowledge and experience here from what I've seen during my research over the past week. I was hoping to get some idea of what might currently be a similar mattress (innerspring) and box spring to our old one. We bought a Simmons Beautyrest "World Class Drucilla Extra Extra Firm" set from Sleepy's back in 2003. It has held up beautifully for almost 11 years. We just moved to a larger place and are planning to get a new bed for the master bedroom and leave the old Simmons in the guest bedroom. Still a lot of life left in it and plenty good for a guest room.

I know that Four Seasons Hotels used to have custom mattresses made by Stearns & Foster, and are now switching to a Simmons model. I slept on the former - best sleep ever - and would like to buy an equivalent in King or Cal King. Four Seasons does sell their beds directly - albeit at rather steep prices. Therefore, I wonder if I could find the same (or very similar) models by both manufacturers, at other retailers. I know that the hotel would say that their beds are custom and unavailable elsewhere. But I am guessing (nay, hoping, and could be wrong) that they are derivations of other, more widely available models.

Does anyone know which models from both Stearns & Foster and Simmons most closely resemble those...

So I found a sheet that has the innards of the new Simmons version posted here: http://d1xejl9xcsndu9.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/signature-sleep-by-Four-Seasons.pdf

The Stearns and Foster lineup is older models, but most similar to their Estate collection.

The Simmons model appears to be completely custom, not like anything in their "Recharge" lineup. If a retailer has a step up above the recharge line, that would be most similar.

I needed a new mattress about 6 years ago to replace a 20-year old one. I found mattress shopping had become very confusing. I tried a soft one, and a very expensive Stearns&Foster pillowtop. Big mistake. NEVER get a pillowtop. No matter how expensive the mattress, the foam on top is cheap and will compress and form indentations within weeks. I too have back problems that send me to a physio every so often and was desperate for advice, which I got on this forum

That excellent advice was to buy a firm, regular mattress and then customize it and soften it with toppers - fiberfill, latex, or memory foam. I got a Kingsdown Duet mattress (I don't think the brand matters all that much, just don't get the cheapest) for about 800$ and it's firm, so firm I cannot sleep on it without toppers. I experimented using toppers and...

Replaced old mattress, tried TWO Kingsdown between early June and early August, caused shoulder pain, back pain, purchased a Tempur-pedic Pro Adapt Soft. I don't know if this mattress is hurting me or if I've just been on too many new mattresses in too short a time.

I'm over 65 in good shape, no arthritis, no physical limitations, very petite female 118 pounds. Last night was 28 nights on this mattress. At first, shoulder pain (rhomboid muscles, shoulder sockets felt out of place), muscle pain went away, shoulder sockets still a little weird (but the Kingsdowns both did this to me also). I've been waking with mid back muscle pain, I can't sleep more than four hours without waking up. It's not horrible pain but I don't want to take pain meds. I haven't slept through the night in months and it's starting to affect...
