Re: Maybe I'll buy an S brand bed... - jimsocal

Kait, I was amazed that I did NOT wake up sore from the pull-out couch/mattress! I found that by positioning my body just right it actually gave me proper support! Sounds crazy I know, and certainly it was not comfortable because during the night I'd have to constantly re-position myself to keep from putting my weight over a cross-bar as you said. But I actually woke up less sore from that than from some configurations of my DIY mattress!

Again, I think it boils down to my needing softer springs. I now realize (or at least think I realize) that I bought the wrong kind of springs for me. My decision was logical and researched and based on my experience with an Englander mattress in a Vegas hotel that was comfy. However, now I have to conclude that my springs are too firm for me (12 gauge or...

Since I'm still "free" to post for another day or two I can add a few more. Most of the mass merchandising outlets that are near you or Cleveland generally carry "S" brand mattresses. Just to add to the previous list though, here are a few more that carry latex "in some version" that may be helpful for either "testing", reference, or in helping you know if what someone calls an "all latex" mattress really is.

http://www.sleepsourceusa.com/mattresses.html Retailer. Carries Natura which has a wide range of latex and latex combinations that are very nice and clearly described (no poly in the comfort layers). May also carry Dormia which makes some latex mattresses but make sure you see a cutaway (showing the layers) on the Dormia as many of their mattresses (or Classic Brands which they are part of) are only partly latex.

Well you sure don't have a lot around you. Mostly chain stores dominated by Sealy, Serta, and Simmons.

Here are a few that are close that you probably know about that have some other brands besides these. They might give you something to compare the "S" brands to at least.

You could either check these out or use these as "testing grounds" and order online which would open up many options and great value for you.

Of the ones you posted here is what I know:

Bowles Mattress: Probably overpriced for a "local" manufacturer. I got a quote from them on a spa series 9" embrace latex and it was 2199 plus shipping. Their lineup also looks familiar as if they are manufacturing another line (such as stress-o-pedic or symbol) but I'd have to do some digging and "matching up" to see if that was the case.

Indiana mattress company: Don't have them in my database but my initial impression of them is very favorable. Adding them to my DB. Worth pursuing

Holder mattress: Have them in my database but thought they were overpriced. Didn't research them any further

Holder bedding: Talked to a delightful old guy there. He is mailing me information on his mattresses because he wasn't hi-tech enough to email it to me. Seemed like...

First I would like to disclose that I am a mattress store owner since 8 years back. I am currently running just one store which I also am acting like the sales person in. I sell or have sold brands like Hastens, Tempur-pedic, Comfor-pedic (before Simmons Bought them out), Serta, Spring Air, Englander, Simmons, Sealy, Sterns & Foster, Natura, NexGel, Corsicana, Symbol, Kaymed.

I would like to give you my opinion on the mattress industry as well as on the Icomfort product...

1. Density of foam is a measurement of quality in most cases but not always. There are fillers that will make a foam denser but not necessary a higher quality.

2. memory foam/visco foam/tempur-material are all sleeping warmer because they are dense, they compress under weight and they trap the body heat of the sleeper inside of the foam. A mattress needs...

Every other mattress brand pitted against Sealy is more often squished, stomped and then cast into shade. It is the reputation speaking, I would like to believe because when it comes to mattress excellence, Sealy is not always the Alpha.

This is a call to all you mattress shoppers out there not to limit your choices to just brand name. You cannot judge a mattress simply because it has more commercials or the other one is privately owned. Do the same when it comes to Symbol vs Sealy mattress.

You have three solid options:

One, perform a mattress surgery on your 1.5 year old mattress. Search the forum for "mattress surgery". I'm assuming your symbol mattress is an innerspring? If not, then you only have options #2 & #3.

Two, buy a mattress which uses a solid latex core. I've seen twins starting at $600 + shipping online. Avoid beds containing a poly-core if possible.

Three, buy a memory foam mattress. Search here to see the various reasons for memory foam vs. latex. Its really a personal preference, but I picked latex.

Best Mattress?? - bearrp3

I know that one mattress isnt for everyone so there no answer to whats the best mattress.

So here is my problem I bought a Symbol mattress for emergency reason (car accident ) was a good price, around $600 for set, at the time and felt really solid when testing it out compared to some of the higher end matresses. The warranty was a plus also for 10 years i figured maybe i would get atleast 4-5 out of it. but its been a year and a half and the middle sags from side to side. The costomer sevice has been a nightmare and decided it best for me to just buy a better new mattress.

I dont care about memory foam, pillow top, sleep numbers or anything fancy i just want something to last and not kill my back and hip from the...

Tempurpedic warranty - is it a bad joke? - markfromdallas

here is a review someone posted online:

"My wife and I purchased split king Tempur-Pedic Rhapsody complete with individual adjustable bases and was happy with our purchase for about 3 years. After that things have gone down hill quickly.

Do not depend on Tempur's warranty it does not cover the problems we have with the mattresses.

We purchased the Rhapsody because we like a firm bed. Starting about the third year the bed just started getting soft and continues to get softer each passing day.

It has gotten so bad that sitting on the bed you sink over 6 inches of the 11 inch thickness. It did not do that when it was new.

The problem is it returns back to it's...
