Build custom latex futon bed/lounger?

We are in need of a backup bed/lounger and I am loving our new latex mattress so much that I am now looking at alternatives for latex futon bed. Would anyone recommend building custom latex futon or possibly buy ready to go one? I would like to buy a convertible frame and get Medium (32 IDL) firmness talalay layer. Do I need anything else? Is 6" too much? Will it be supportive enough to sit on it?

 

I found some latex futons locally, but the price of $800+ is astronomical:
