| I am having trouble comparing apples and oranges. I know 100% natural latex is more expensive than blended and that Talalay is more expensive than Dunlop. But it seems that especially in the all natural mattresses, Flobeds is considerably more expensive than other sites also offering 100% natural mattresses as well as trial periods with full returns (not just comfort exchanges) like Habitat Furnishings and Plushbeds (which both use Dunlop in the core as opposed to Flobeds). Is the cost difference just the Dunlop vs. Talalay difference? Is it worth it to spend so much on a Flobed? I am afraid I will never be able to compare a Dunlop/Talalay layered mattress with a full Talalay without ordering mattresses from different sites and returning one which doesn't seem practical. Green Mattress Factory offers both and a 6 month return, but I don't see anything on these forums about the company. Any advice? |

Latex International is pretty much regarded as producing the highest quality latex foam in the world. Latex International makes all of their talalay foam here in the United States. Flobed uses a much superior encasement. Their encasement is made of wool and cotton, and contains no fire retardant chemicals. The wool creates the fire retardness (not sure if that's even a word) needed to meet the new fire regulations. Most of the other brands are using a much cheaper material which is coated in undesirable chemicals (most of which are known to be unsafe for humans). The wool used by flobeds also helps to regulate body temperature, and absorb perspiration. The salts in perspiration are known to quickly break down latex foam. Having a thick wool encasement acts like a barrier for perspiration. 3. Talalay vs. dunlop is a much contested discussion here as to which is better, but one thing is for sure, talalay is definitely more expensive.
