Hi.  I'm interested in purchasing a mattress during the memorial day sale and have started looking at various mattresses so that I know exactly which brand and model my husband and I would like to purchase.  After sleeping on a ton of mattresses over the course of a few weeks, we've narrowed our selection down to two.  Both are around the same price and we love both of them equally.  Since both of them cost the same and feel the same to us, its hard for us to decide so we are taking recomendations.  We both are on the heavy side and while my husband likes to sleep on his stomach, I sleep on both my back and my side.

Both manufacturers are near the bottom in terms of quality and customer satisfaction, from what I have heard. I myself bought a Simmons about 10 years ago and would never buy another one because I am not convinced they solved the inherent problem in their springs.

The Simmons you mention has some Talalay latex in it. That's a good thing but I wonder how much. 1/2"? 1"? Bet it ain't much. For $7k it should have some major latex layers in it! But of course they don't tell you that on the web pages because they don't want people asking questions about what's in their mattresses.

They are both pillowtops. If you did the slightest bit of research here in the forum you would know that pillowtops are the worst thing to buy.

My best advice is to do some research before you buy. You say you did, you asked here. Okay, but try doing some reading before you make a really big decision like spending $5000-7000 on a mattress made by a crappy company that will likely break down within a year. You can do a lot better. You can buy pure latex. Or you can buy something from a "boutique" manufacturer who uses quality materials. Several have been recommended lately and if you do a little digging you can find the recommendations. I don't remember the names or I'd tell you here.

Good luck.
