best combination innerspring and latex
Hey guys I just bought a OMF Latex bed and it is too soft. I have some lower back issues which have not stopped since buying the mattress. I was going to return this mattress and exchange it for the hard innerspring mattress from OMF and then put latex on top. I am 5'9 180lbs and am a side sleeper. My question is what would you recomend as a latex top layer for the innerspring mattress?
Thanks allot Reid ATL |
Re: best combination innerspring and latex
I think OMF will let you return it for a fee for a comfort issue. If they do and if you have the softer latex model, you could get the firmer one and then see if you still need a topper. Then possibly add soft layers to fit your need. If you have a firm mattress, coil springs or latex, you can add layers of latex, 19 or 14 ILD to soften it up. |
Re: best combination innerspring and latex
What about a medium-firm talalay or soft-medium dunlop (low 20s ILD), 3" or so? That's what I've found most comfortable on a hard surface. A local store does pocket innersprings with 2" soft or firm talalay. They recommend soft for women and firm for men. Their soft, I would guess (comparing to others I've tried that do give numbers), is probably around 20 ILD and "firm" maybe around 30-35 ILD. The latex layer felt comfortable to me, both soft and firm, but the springs were too soft that my hips sagged on my back. I've tried several soft talalay toppers (teens through low twenties ILD) and find them all too soft. For hard innersprings, you'd probably sink through the talalay anyway and feel the springs.
