Hi folks, Back to tweaking my topper rather than buillding a bed. I am about to give up on finding a magic bullet below the top 2"... so maybe an inch of real soft on an inch of "pretty soft" will do. I have a 1" latex topper from Foam By Mail which is advertised as Talalay but I am sure is Dunlop. It is quite dense and not very "soft", but not bad. Another poster said "add 10" to the stated ILD for Dunlop to compare to Talalay. I trust RMM to deliver talalay, but would like someone's input that RMM's talalay is "very soft" or "real soft" or some such. Can anyone vouch for RMM's "soft" 1 inch?
Thanks, Shovel99 |
Hmmm. The 1" Talalay soft topper I got from FBM is extremely soft and fluffy. |
Please let us know what you think when it comes. I was debating over these same two choices myself. Went with FBM because their 3" is $100 cheaper, but they have a 30-day return policy... This message was modified Aug 10, 2010 by Relaxo

Thanks Gary. And here's an oops from the memory department. (For Relaxo) I already tried the 1 inch 14 ILD Supersoft Latex Queen topper from Sleeplikeabear.com, which was $172, shipped, with a no questions return warranty. SLAB is recognized as one of if not the best in the biz in CS and product quality, and readily accepted the topper I bought, back when I concluded (then) that while softer than my FBM topper, it wasn't softer enough to justify $172 over the $85 I paid (then) for FBM. The return charge of $32 from Atlanta to CA was on their label, and they talked about it as "return shipping". Not. Fedex ground would have been $9... so they took a restocking fee, which is more than fair. So today, 1 inch queen from FBM $98 no warranty. From SLAB $172 with $32 return cost. From RMM: $164 with no return. I was nuts to be thinking RMM and thanks, Relaxo, for coaxing these thoughts out of my brain. If you want to pay more for softer, go with SLAB. My only defense of insanity is that I am (now) back to thinking that one more inch of even softer is what I may need, and need to overcome my innate cheapness and buy the SLAB piece, to keep. I don't think they will let me return the same product twice and don't blame them. My problem is that I have spent over $5000 on this process, have bought and swapped for and slept on in my home over 20 mattresses and probably 75 mattress toppers, and paying double for "just a litte softer" is killing me. So is not sleeping. I have heard quoted from the back Docs that the solution is exercise and building up the back muscles; that the mattress cannot do that. I am pretty close to resigned to that and am attempting to spend more time exercising. I never had trouble sleeping till the last few years, during which my muscle and strength have fallen off drastically 55-60. Good luck! shovel |
shovel99, you were not nuts for thinking RMM. The RMM is 100% natural latex and SLAB is Talatech at the price you quoted. The 100% natural equivalent SLAB would have been $222. Need to compare apples to apples. This message was modified Sep 7, 2010 by glitchathon

rmm is cheaper but do we know who is making it, slab say theirs is from latex intl. |

RMM has told me that theirs is made by Latex International. I bought one at it does seem pretty high quality, so I think they are correct. Yes, their service is not the most responive. They are a bit slow in shipping out. I have a feeling they have it drop shipped directly form LI or some wholesaler that buys from LI. I think mine was shipped from North Carolina. 100% naturual talalay from Rockymountainmattress: This message was modified Sep 7, 2010 by sandman
