Component style inner spring mattresses?

I am looking for a component-style inner spring mattress - by which I mean a separate inner spring core with a separate quality topper. So if the topper goes bad you can just buy a new one, no need for surgery. The Dux is the only one I know about, but they are over priced and have a bad sleep policy (no exchanges). Just wondering if any other companies offer an inner spring core with a latex topper? Thanks.

Something like this, from Bay Bed & Mattress in CA?

I've read your old posts, but don't remember where you are. Bay Bed will ship cross-country, I believe.

Are you still not finding the comfort you wanted in your latex mattress?

I'm in Seattle. That link looks like a single integrated mattress - springs and latex inside the mattress. I am looking for a system that has the springs separate from the topper. So if I dont like the topper at least I can make changes while keeping the core (springs) the same. Maybe I misread?

Ah, my old posts. I was hoping to sneak in this question without being recognized :-)  But since you ask, no I am still not liking my all-latex (SleepEZ) mattress. I just spent the week out of town and slept on my brother's son's old inner spring mattress. Didn't think it felt very comfortable but I slept better on it than I ever did on my SleepEZ. I am still messing around with my latex (I am currently trying to firm the area under my hips by adding material inside the mattress) but the more I think about it the more I think I should just go back to inner springs. Regardless of what I read or believe, I seem to do way better on them. The problem for me is that they don't feel any better upon first impression; I think I need to spend a night or 2 before I could really tell. Makes it hard to buy...

This vendor (Bay Bed) makes the mattresses with zippered covers, so you can change the foam that goes on top of the innerspring. You can put whatever you like in there (and you can still add a topper if you want, but you might not need to). He offers several models, probably with different kinds of innersprings.

I haven't found anyone else who does this, using springs as a core instead of poly foam or latex. It's such a great idea, you'd think more of the independent manufacturers would start offering something like it.

I'm tempted to have him ship me a mattress, and I'm in NY (he said shipping a full-size mattress to NY would cost about $250). If I knew what kind of springs would work the best for me, I'd probably do it. All I know so far is what doesn't work for me (described in exhaustive detail here).

Sorry to hear you're still not liking your mattress. You certainly gave it a heck of a try.

Well I see that Royal Pedic has toppers designed to go on either their spring or latex beds. See http://www.royalpedic.com/RPPads.asp

maybe even pricier than dux though...
