We recently bought a Stearns and Foster pillowtop mattress from an outlet store, we got what we considered was a fantastic deal. Here's the problem, on one side, the foam edge support seems to collapse when anyone sits on that edge, the opposite edge is nice and firm and retains it shape and support, however on the other side when someone sits on the edge or even just pushes on the edge, it just goes all the way down with very little effort or force, so when someone actually sits on it, you can nearly feel it go all the way down.
Because it was an outlet purchase, it is AS-IS, so no returns, exchange or warranty. With the exception of the edge support collapse - it seems fine (and extremely comfortable). So the question is: Is there a solution to this??????
If more information is needed, just let me know. THANKS IN ADVANCE! |
Don't know how long you've had this mattress, but the S&F pillowtop I bought ($$) last spring was also incredibly comfortable at first, but not only had the edge seams collapsing, but had a major indention in the pillowtop itself within 5 weeks. Luckily I was able to exchange it. I"m afraid there is no solution for your problem. If you start getting big indentations where you sleep, I think the only answer is to do mattress surgery, which you can read about here: |
Being an outlet store, you may have purchased a bed that had issues that couldn't be sold by a S&F retailer. I wonder, tho, if you went to S&F and had their people out to assess the bed, if the company itself would do anything? Tho edge squishing isn't that big of a deal...as long as the rest of the bed is good for you. I hope it lasts! Kait |
I was told there would be no warranty because it was purchased from an outlet store. the tag says it was made july 2011, so the mattress is only a few months old. We've only had it a few weeks, and over all we are very happy with it. With the exception of the side edge collapse on my side. Its not a huge problem, but it is one I'd like to get resolved. I tried to register it on S&F web site, but its asking me for a number that I can't seem to locate on the mattress label... I have the serial number and a bunch of other stuff, but the USA web site for S&F is a little vague as to where to find this specific number, or I'm missing the section it wants the number from.... I'm not sure. Oh and the outlet store is a S&F retailer, it was just purchased from there outlet store... but the chain is a legit S&F dealer... just the outlet division of their chain. If you already agreed to buy the bed "As is" with no returns or warranty of any kind (is that written somewhere on your sales slip?) then I doubt S&F will do anything for you. And yes, that number requested is not easy to find, as I realized when attempting to register my bed before I sent it back. |
