Falling in the crack between pieces of latex?
Some of the Latex stores emphasize how they can combine different pieces of latex to create a customized bed for 2 people.
Wouldn't that create a "crack" in the middle that one would notice?

Re: Falling in the crack between pieces of latex?
There have been many posts on this topic if you do a search. I will give you a quick answer as I am checking messages as I eat lunch and must get back to work ASAP. The latex pieces seem to be very clingy and heavy if you are getting a 2.8" to 3" thick latex core. Once you put a topper over this with the cover, it seems that the bed feels as if there is not separation between the two sides. Well at least this is the way with my bed. I have a FloBed. I think some of the SleepEZ beds have no topper but maybe since the latex sides cling together once the zippered cover is over them, there is also the same feeling that the bed is one big latex core. |
Re: Falling in the crack between pieces of latex?
I have a queen sized bed from Flobeds. The bed has three layers on each side, with a single convoluted topper over the whole thing. The two latex sidex butt up against each other perfectly, with no gap. Due to the weight and clinginess of latex, they do not shift around inside the mattress. I don't feel the split at all, even though the two sides of the bed are slightly different firmnesses. |

Re: Falling in the crack between pieces of latex?
If you've ever seen a latex mattress kit, the cores fit very tightly inside the cover. You won't feel a separation, however, if the two sides have very different firmnesses, you would probably feel that one side was much softer than the other if you were lying in the exact center. Usually if you're configuring a mattress to accommodate two partners each one would sleep on their own side of the bed, not in the middle. |
Re: Falling in the crack between pieces of latex?
Ive slept on a queen sized latex topper for about 5 years. The topper split down the middle (at the seam) within the first 6 months. Still I have never fallen between the pieces. The foam is quite difficult to slide along any surface so once it touches your mattress it effectively never moves. Because of this if you line up two pieces together and lay between them they don't slide apart and you never really feel the crack. |
