My girl friend and I have been shopping for a Queen mattress. I have visited several stores and the price of mattresses have really surprised me. I don't seem to have a whole lot of preference toward innerspring or latex but don't particularly care for the memory foam beds. Part of that could be my fear of it being hot to sleep on. For the most part we both end up liking the firmer models. I am a back sleeper about 5'9" 210 lbs. and she is mostly back sleeper but occasionally side and is 5'2" 120 lbs. Even the medium ones seem to let your but sag down a lot and we both agree that they seem a little too soft. The only mattresses that I have thought were too firm was the firmest Sealy Latex (salesmen said it was a very firm model and was not comfortable selling it to the average customer) and a couple of innerspring mattresses at a local bed makers store that seemed like laying on the floor (none of their mattresses seemed very comfortable). We have both been sleeping on standard innerspring mattresses that I would assume have very little comfort layers in them. My particular mattress is about 12 years old and is a Restonic which I don't think was real expensive at the time. I have been thinking about trying out Latex. Foambymail is for sure low priced so that has enticed me even more. I am worried about it being too soft however. I am thinking about trying their 6" firm Latex mattress 33-38 ILD with a 1" thick "medium" Latex topper 32 ILD. Do you think this will be too soft for me? I am not too woried about it being too firm as I would then buy a 1 or 2 inch "soft" 20 ILD Latex topper to add to or replace the medium topper with. Suggestions on another configuration is welcome also. I really need to stay under $1000 though. |
