Has anyone bought a NexGel Mattress?

I tried this mattress at the store and I have to say it is wonderfully comfortable and supportive in the right places. At least for me. The single layer of honeycomb gel is for people of average weight. Heavier folks can purchase two layers of the gel. I want to buy one, but I have no idea how it holds up. The honeycomb gel is supposed to be a long lasting material. But the inner parts of the bed are optional latex or regular foam. Has anyone bought this mattress? And if so, how has it held up? These work great for reducing the "posterior pressure points" (which restrict blood flow) on a computer desk chair.  I will check this out as my computer desk chairs old cheap PU foam has completely broken down. This might just prove to be what my posterior needs. |

I unfortunately cannot answer any of your questions so far as how well the gel would hold up, but I would assume the higher end beds with latex as the core instead of poly foam will last significantly longer. We just got the double gel latex set up...the top of the line NexGel...I think we ordered the wrong bed. I definitely think it would feel a lot better for a heavier person but myself @ 170lbs am not heavy enough to even make the honeycombs collapse unless I am sitting on it. We also brought ours in with a collapseable base which has to be constructed first, this was also a mistake on our part. unless you have to move the base through a really tight doorway or staircase the hassle of building it is probably not worth it. Anyway this all being said you can tell the mattress has all they say there is in it....it is HEAVY. I am also a little concerned about the height of the mattress, this one definitely should come default with a low profile base. Or they really should consider eliminating the soy/poly 4" foam piece on the bottom of the mattress, I just find it unnecessary perhaps its there to add height if anything. They also make versions of these beds with a pocket coil core as opposed to various foam cores. As soon as I have a heavier person in the store that is looking for a good quality bed I am gonna have them try it out as well and get some more opinions on it. | I've been on a bed search for many years, sleeping on air for the last several. I took a spin on one of these Gel beds yesterday, I bet they have a web site. It comes in 5 different configurations, some even have covered coils deep within the mattress. BTW, I have one of those chair pads in my car! 3 years old and just starting to break down because the cover wore out not because the rubber gave up. Great product, pricy bed but they were giving the demo bed away at $850 for the queen. If I don't like the latex that is coming today I will be making a bee line for this one. I ordered a Costco latex bed, same price as this bed BUT no foundation. Only a restful sleep will tell. I'm taking back the Comfort Aire bed I got at Costco, worst bed, yuck! |

From what I've been told by a mattress industry professional, here's what the deal is between IntelliBED and Nexgel. IntelliBED holds the exclusive rights to sell mattresses containing IntelliGel for the US and Canada. NexGel mattresses contain a form of the gel that has to have a certain minimum percentage of air contained within the gel, so that they could circumvent the patent license held by Intellibed. This gel is not as strong as the real Intelligel, and may not be as durable in the long run. I've been told that mattresses containing real intelligel has been proven to be very durable. I don't believe that the nexgel can be as durable, considering it has air bubbles in it... It's not proven in the marketplace. |

| I totally believe there must be a difference because you can definitely feel it. But of course "Intelligel" is exclusive to Intellibed, it is just their name for it. Its kind of like saying Beautyrest pocket coils are exclusive to Simmons, and they are, because its their name for the product. Even if they were the exact same material NexGel would be calling their product NexGel and not "Intelligel". |

| Years ago I think I bought a pillow for $100 (wasted money) that had gel squares. I didn't like it all. I was thinking about getting the mattress and tried the pillow. I am glad I only lost $100. That store closed here, I thought they went out of business. If this is the same stuff.... |

| In my opinion, NexGel is not the same as IntelliGEL. Air bubbles weaken the gel, and it has the potential to not last as long. |

Our local store still has models, I like them and have tried all of them over a 2 week period. I would go everyday after work and pick another bed for 10 minutes. I can't afford to make another mistake. I weigh 300lbs and have been sitting on a pad of this in my car, it has not broken down in the three years I have had it. The gel stuff is made from mineral oil, I am told. The company is changing hands and price will go up but I bet the public thinks this is a gimick. I switched back to air and I think I will stick to it, it continues to work for me. I am sending the latex back to Costco today. I'm a nurse and we always put people on air, I've never seen one of these gel beds in the hospitals. I called around, just for the hell of it and nope, no one had heard of the "gel" bed! The way they advertise this bed you'd think every doc in America wants you to have one!?? |

| if clinical/medical backing was the #1 thing though, then everyone would sleep on a Tempur-Pedic. Followed by wool topped mattresses. |
