Has anyone bought the Westin Heavenly mattress or Simmons Dakar Pillowtop Classic? (its clone)
| My sister-in-law slept on a Westin Heavenly Bed for a week and absolutely fell in love with the mattress! Now she wants one. So, she talked to someone who sells Simmons and he said that the Dakar Pillowtop Classic is the exact same one as the Heavenly only less expensive. It's a medium firm and the pillowtop isn't as thick and fluffy as some you see out there.<BR>I know what my sister-in-law means about how comfortable that bed felt! I slept in one in Seattle and it was...well, it was HEAVENLY! BUT, I chose not to buy one because first of all, I'm leary of pillowstops, even low profile ones. Especially on no-flip mattresses. Also, even though it might feel wonderful for a few nights or a week in a hotel...I always get the feeling they change these mattresses a lot more than the average person would. Sure, if money wasn't a factor, I'd buy one and order a new one every year just to keep that "ahhhhh factor" everynight. I told my sister-in-law that I would ask if anyone has bought the Westin Heavenly mattress or the Simmon Dakar Pillowtop Classic. if so, is it lasting?<BR><BR>Thanks! |

| Vicky, a member of a Maltese dog list I am on loved the Westin Heavenly Mattress so much when she slept on it at the Sheraton in Parsippany during the week of the Dog Show around the third week in August 2007. She bought one of the beds and she has slept on it a few nights now and says it is a heavenly feeling and she loves the bed. I never felt the bed so I have no idea what it feels like. |

Now this is a SMALL world!! I know Vicky VERY well! We even met in NY back in 2002! We both also have Cotons, hence the reason my little dog and I flew out for a big Coton party. We belong to another list and she's been telling us all about her mattress adventures. Then my SIL mentioned sleeping on one. I had remembered the one we slept in a few years back. It really did feel "heavenly". But, they all do in a hotel for a night or two. My concern with those cozy mattresses are the longevity in my HOME over a course of time. I mentioned this to Vicky, but she didn't care if it wore out, as long as it felt good NOW. I'm almost getting to that point! LOL BUT, the difference between the two of us: $$$$$$$$. I have less of it to spend on virtually disposable mattresses. When I find one, it has to last for awhile. Oh, well!<BR><BR>Anyway, I just wanted to comment about Vicky! Tell her "hi" when you talk to her. I gave her the link to this forum if she or anyone wanted to "talk mattresses". I read that they use fluffy toppers on non-pillowtop mattresses in their hotels, like feather down or down alternative. I've never been to one or tried the bed, I was looking at them online. I never read reviews from anyone who has had their bed for a while, but a lot of raves from people who just got them. I also noticed some discount coupons, which may have expired, not sure. I tried the featherbed and wasn't thrilled with the crunchy feel. But, I'm going to try a down alternative fiberbed. I just ordered this from Costco online: Ultimate Cuddle Bed Plus. I can return it in the store if need be. It will be here tomorrow;Also, I'm looking at ordering the 300 threadcount microgel puffball fiber bed from Walmart. It can be delivered free to the store. I felt one almost identical over at Bed, Bath and Beyond for a lot more money. My biggest concern about any of these is that they won't be so plush that my back will be sore from sinking in too far. On the other hand, it might have an entirely different feel than the latex toppers which hurt my back. You can look at the tag on the mattress in the hotel to find out when it was manufactured. I always do!!! Oddly the two I've slept in that were lovely(one at the Brown Hotel and Spa in Denver, one at the Awahnee hotel in Yosemite Nat'l Park) were five years old! No, they don't seem to replace them that frequently! Kait |
