I found this forum about a week ago. I wish I would have found it 4 years ago. Whatever bed I replace will be the 3rd bed we have purchased in 4 years!!

Here is my our bed History starting about 4 years ago: (All of these are King)

1. W Hotel Bed and Featherbed combo

http://www.whotelsthestore.com/item.asp?curr_item_id=5

http://www.whotelsthestore.com/item.asp?curr_item_id=26&cat_subcat_id=10

We bought this because the wife and I stayed at The W hotel and loved it and was told this was the combo used at their hotels.

(Plus, I found a 40% off coupon!)

The bad news after about 2 years it started sagging and only got worse! The featherbed was nice, but like others on here know, you have to fluff them up almost daily and that wasn't happening. We lived with this for about a year and replaced it with:

2.  Tempurpedic - Deluxe bed

http://www.tempurpedic.com/mattresses/tempur/the_deluxebed_by_tempur_pedic/

The mistake I might have made here was buying this used from a friend and it was already 2 years old. I did call Tempurpedic prior to purchasing it and they said it would not breakdown that quickly, but of course no warranty, which I knew when I purchased it.

The wife did not like it from the beginning. To hard for her, but she got used to it and doesn't complain. In the past 3 months or so it seems to hurt my back because I sink into it too much in my rear and lower back. Not the support it seemed to have in the past. It actually feels a little hard for me.

So, we are back on the market and this time I want to buy a new one. To make this easy and because I use Costco anyways, I plan to buy one from them. (Obviously because of thier return policy and if they don't work out I can get my money back and maybe try a Flobed at that point?)

Here is my best attempt at what my Wife and I's profile or what we "think" we are looking for.

I am 5'9" -  170-190lbs (fluctuates because I love bad foods!!)

Wife - 5'0" - 120-130

Wife loves the big fluffy bed feel and is a 90% side sleeper

I like the big fluffy bed feel also, but I like the firm support before the fluffiness if that makes sense. I am a 90% back sleeper.

Our bed is a platform bed that I have inserted 3/4" plywood on top of the slats to give it a firm base. No need for a box spring.

My thoughts from perusing this forum are these beds from costco:

Kirkland Stearns and Foster Cadbury

Seems to get good reviews. A few questions:

What is 416 Foam Encased, 5T - 12 3/4 Gauge Innerspring Unit? Does this mean wrapped coils? The pictures on 2nd link do not show wrapped coils, but a lot of people say wrapped coils are bad for longevity.  Does the g12 3/4 gauge and 644 coils sound like a good ratio for firmness and longevity.

Celeste and Ara by sleep science

The last one that I may consider is the All Latex 10" by sleep science one that is not currently on Costco's but will be soon. This one intrigues me because you can flip it over to a softer side from a firm side. Kind of a poor man's FloBed

I think the big picture is to find something with firm support that we can "add" the big fluffy feel to with toppers or whatever

Please keep in mind we are open to other suggestions of beds from Costco. I just want to try them 1st and hopefully the 1st one I pick from them is perfect, if not I can just call them up and try another one.

Sorry I was so long and thanks in advance for all of your suggestions and advice

MC

I'd go with the Sleep Science bed from CostCo - one called the "Emma" was getting rave reviews - look for the thread on it. Someone said it was going to be available again soon. It's latex and has 2 sides, one softer, one firmer. Sounds like a great deal. AND you can return it if you don't like it!

If you have not done so yet, look at the Highlighted threads at the top and especially look for that Emma thread, to get some ideas about latex beds.

Jim, I think you may be confusing the Costco models.  The Emma is 10"  memory foam over PU foam.  The reversible latex one is something different.  I am not sure it has a name.  It is not available right now.
