I’m contemplating buying a 2 – 4 inch (5 or 6 LB) memory foam topper to place on top of my two year old Latex king size mattress. I personally love the mattress, but the mattress has softened (it was already considered an Ultra Plush) and my wife prefers a firmer mattress. Through what seems to be non-stop online research, I noticed that some models use memory foam over a latex base. I’m wondering how a high density memory foam topper will feel on top of a (softer) latex mattress. Will it give my wife the firmness she seeks? Should I add another layer of firmer foam between them? Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated. |
BigKev,
an HD memory foam topper on top of a plush latex is not much helpful. Before wasting any money, try what I suggest below; 1) have your wife lie down on the mattress, 2)mark the area where her lumbar area lays, 3)grab a used thin (compressed) pillow or foam & put it under the the mattress (below where her lumbar lays) 4)increase or decrease thickness of the material to get the right support needed. most of the times, a 1" firm foam between the plush mattress & base will provide the added support. avoid using plywood This message was modified Apr 5, 2012 by canuck
