Hi:

I am in a similar situation. I tried many mattress but my husband specifically likes the Tempurpedic Grand Bed.

Did you finally buy something that is similar to the Grand Bed?

I am looking to purchase a Queen size mattress for my Leggett and Platt Queen adjustable base..I am trying to stay away from Tempurpedic after reading so many complaints PLUS their outrageous price.

Any comments?

You'll have trouble finding 7lb memory foam. Temp. seems to have cornered the market on it, I think. Not sure but I've never seen it. I have seen Venus 5lb foam advertised and it's quite expensive. (And the stuff Overstock sells and calls Venus is not the real thing.)

If you are absolutely convinced to go with a Temp. type mattress, good luck finding the foam for a good price. Report back here if you do find it.

Personally I would recommend - as would almost everyone on this forum that I know - that you try latex instead, maybe 2" of memory foam on or near the top layer if you really feel the need, something like Sensus.

You could use M-Grade PU foam for the base (good price at overnightmattress.com; but I don't recommend their memory foam, only their M-Grade base foam).

Then add 2-3" of latex (medium, if it's a king you could put two EX Twin pieces next to each other to have different feels on each side of the King) and 2" of Sensus on top or under the latex. All for around $1200 I'm guessing off the top of my head.

Interesting. If I had some bucks to spend I'd consider trying one of these. Wish they had 'em in 1" thickness, though.
