Help deciding on slatted bed base
I'm currently sleeping on a borrowed bed that has a lousy spiral bed base and a very old mattress, which are starting to hurt my back. I recently visited a local Ikea and found the latex sultan elsfjord mattress quite comfortable and within my budget. Now I need to decide on a bed base... I do want a slatted bed base, but I have some trouble deciding on which one. I stumbled upon this site while looking for info on latex mattresses and reckoned there might be someone here who could give me some advice on this matter :) These are my picks, they both cost 90 euro's: Ikea's 'sultan laxeby:' 42 slats of layer-glued birch, divided into 5 comfort zones 8 slats in the centre section are adjustable to give your body just the right support. 7 slats in the shoulder section are adjustable to give your body just the right support. http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/40109913 Or the 'tosca' from a Dutch company: 32 slats, 5 comfort zones hip and shoulder area are made of a different type of slat compared to the rest the 4 slat middle section is adjustable http://www.leenbakker.nl/Productcategorieen.aspx?Productcategorie=12&Product=353#Productselection An advantage of the second option is that the store is a 5 minute walk away from where I live :) I'd say that a larger number of slats should be more comfortable, since the base would follow the contours of the body more closely. However, 32 seems more than the average number of slats on a base allready , would 42 be noticably different? I also don't realy get the difference in adjustable comfort zones; hip and shoulder in the laxeby base versus middle in the tosca base (+ slats of different material for shoulder and hip area). On the tosca base, the slats are connected in groups at the sides, what would be the advantage of that? On the laxeby they're all separate. Do any of you have experience with the laxeby or a base similair to the tosa? Thanks for your help :) |
